When I Started:
May, 2006
How I Started:
I've been in the Marine Corps for nearly three years, and in decent shape, but I never was really serious about my body. I run a lot, but had no strength. I recently decided to start doing something about it.
Why I Love It:
It just feels so good. I've still got a LONG way to go, but I'm seeing improvements in my daily life and during Physical Training.
How I Stay Motivated:
I write down tomorrow's workout beforehand. I may make a change or two while actually working out, but it's good to know I have a plan, and it keeps me on track. I also have to admit that having supplements keeps me going. That protein shake after the workout is part of the daily routine now, and I'd feel odd without it. I get frustrated at times when people kid that I just "Don't have the right kind of body to put on muscle". That's Bullsh*t, and I'm gonna meet my goals.
I've never been strong in any sense of the word. I'm a decent runner, but have no upper body, and no real power in my lower body. I'm embarrassed to take off my shirt. I feel pathetic at the beach. I'm a Marine, and I should look like one, and that's what I'm going to accomplish. To be honest, I'm new enough at this that I don't really know where exactly to set my goals. I want to look and feel good.

I've been lifting consistantly for about 2 1/2 months now. This is the most I've ever lifted in my life, and it feels good. I'm fat and weak, but I'm seeing progress. I'm slowly improving.
Yesterday when I went to do pullups I felt weightless. It's the first time I can remember that pullups...
