"Rehab and rescue my 'old' body after my surgery recently"
Personal Info And Background:
Real Name:
Cass
Sex:
Female
Age:
30
Location:
United States
Occupation:
Computer Scientist
Personal Website:
Gym:
Army
Gym Location:
army base
When I Started:
1985
How I Started:
My mom put me in dance and gymnastics, found out I couldn't dance and threw me in soccer. I've been a sports nut ever since. I recently had knee surgery and have gained some weight. Always been a stocky girl, however.
Why I Love It:
I love sports because I am good at them, they are fun, and they break up the monotony of the regular boring cardio/workout. I love working out mainly lifting. I like being a strong woman where I can hold my own even with some guys. I love to bike ride. I just got my road bike before my knee surgery, and I'm looking forward to joining competitions and eventually biking the century (100 miles). Something about telling people I biked 30 miles today or I biked to this town and back...what did you do today?, and they look at me like I'm nuts...love it!
How I Stay Motivated:
To stay healthy...I have 'bad' genetics to gaining weight easily, heart problems, cancer, and diabetes. I like being 'buff' and strong. To have fun. Relieves stress. I only wish, now that I'm in the real world, I had as much time as I did in college to workout.
BB Accomplishments:
Two sport college athlete (basketball and track); USA teams; Olympic trials finalist; record holder; Bench Max when I my weight was 160ish and I was a college thrower bench was at 185, Squat at 310, clean and jerk was 200, overhead press at 120, Lat pulldown 190; seated row 180; Incline DB 50ea for 10; Inclinee bench 125 for 10; Upright row 85 for 10. I once wrestled a guy heavier than I that wrestled at the University of Wyoming and I took him down and held him there for the first round. But the second round his endurance took over. I was a thrower at the time...hardly any cardio.

Rehab and rescue my 'old' body after my surgery recently
Goal (Long):
I recently had knee surgery and gained some weight. Plus I've been eating horribly for a while even though I workout quite a bit. I'm frustrated there are no changes, but I know the reason. Time to change my eating habits as well. I look forward to getting back to my lean/strong self.
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
LAT PULLDOWN MACHINE! Ask my crotch! I was screwin off with some buddies when I was extremely strong. Put a million lbs on there and actually did one, but my shoulders gave out on the eccentric movement back up, but I held on for fear of the weight stack breaking if I let go, it jerked me out of the seat (it was waaay heavier than I was), and I still hung on, it swung my crotch into the knob that sticks out to adjust the knee clamp. Lets just say it cut me a new 2 inch pee hole and I was out of work for 2 wks, in the gyno w/everyone looking/touchin' my junk for 14 days straight, almost had to have surgery, couldn't walk normal for a month, couldn't lift either, bled for a month, had to use a water squirty thing to 'wipe' off (no TP allowed), excruciating when I stood up...shall I go on? DON'T F OFF IN THE WT ROOM!! I was a Fitness Supervisor at the time even...just because you are in charge and educated doesn't mean you are free from injury especially when you are being a douche. Lovely example I set eh?!! How embarrassing!LAT PULLDOWN MACHINE! Ask my crotch! I was screwin off with some buddies when I was extremely strong. What is the most dangerous weightlifting exercise? Why?
LAT PULL DOWN MACHINE!! LOL Actually its probably squat or deadlift, the power lifts of cleans, jerks, snatch, etc. Those lifts that you can do the most weight on but need exact technique to do so because if you don't have great technique you put an extreme amount of strain on places you shouldn't and it'll bite you in the ass (back probably) down the road. What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
Screwin off! Either by trying to show off and do too much weight or not paying attention. I know this first hand and have learned my lesson.
Hi everyone...I know I know, I've not wrote a blog for a bit but between the last month of school, my sister is having her baby and all her baby crap going on lol, my mom's health problems, all my friends are leaving so we've been doing the good bye hang outs constantly, work, rehab, etc......

Hey hot stuff! How's the knee after your duathalon. Congrats on doing that. There is a cool triathalon I'd like to do this year that includes kayaking, mountain biking and running. Is the summer going well for you so far?
It was horrible. I didn’t only have pain for awhile, but I couldn’t wrestle or play Lacrosse my senior year of high school. I used to wrestle at 155lbs and now I have to try hard to cut down to 185. I was dumb and was told not to start wrestling until about a year and after six months I went back at it and ended up possibly getting tendonitis. Even now I feel some problems with it, but it’s all good. Good luck and remember to listen to the PT (very important, wish I did).
Thanks for the mutual add Cass!:) as well for the compliment, I appreciate it! So, you must be a techy person? How's your surgery btw? Hope your A okay now? take care & hope you can dropby again to my bodyspace! :)
It's graduation season here in Guam, hope is the same for you and everyone else. Let the kids enjoy the moment, and the world is their's to conquer. Enjoy the weekend, play hard, enjoy life and have a good one!!!
Be a hero, say thanks to a veteran and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice this Memorial day... Enjoy and play hard, but be safe. Have a good one!!!

Ooh, farm trip sounds fun! I am taking my physical test for the fire department this Sunday. So my Summer plans revolve around what happens with the hiring process over the next few weeks. If I make it, it is training all summer. If I don't I am going to take a couple classes and do my best to get rock hard!
I too have been hanging in there. my kids last day of school is in 3 weeks, just thinking about what im going to do with them for the summer.. anyways good to hear from you. hope school ends one a good note. You're almost done... keep in touch... xo
