Moderation and Macros

The only thing that gets results for me is knowing my calorie requirements.  I try to keep my protein at about 180 grams a day, carbs about 325 and fat around 80 grams.  I don't worry about slight variations in my macros from day to day.  Some days I'll be over or under slightly.  At 170lbs I consume between 2400-2800 calories a day, most days closer to 2600.  Maintenance calories are apox 2400.   I don't drink soda, stay away from boxed or frozen foods, avoid preservatives, and fast foods. Every now and  then I will get a burger or chili from as fast food joint.  Moderation and watching my macros is the base of my nutrition.

Supplements I'm Currently On are Con-Cret, Craze or Super Pump Max and Optinum Gold Standard Whey Protein or Combat Powder.


In the morning I'll take my multivitamin ( OptiMen) and a Fish Oil Pill as soon as I get up with a glass of water.  About 2 hours before a workout I'll take a scoop of Whey Protein, either Combat Powder Vanilla or Optinum Gold Standard Vanilla.  I prefer Combat Powder, it taste better.  Aproximately ten to thirty minutes before my work out I'll take my Preworkout,  1 serving of Super Pump Max or Craze.  I like to switch it up.  Asap post workout I'll take my Creatine (3grams).  Ten minutes later I'll take 1-2 scoops of whey depending on how I feel and my requirements.

j1zip Just finished workout, had to workout from home. Took the last 3 days off from working out, the new baby is doing awesome. Hard to adjust!

j1zip Solid strength gains over the last month! On the downside I'm putting on some fat. I plan on cleaning up this bulk after the baby comes.

  • I hit the mark perfect day b4 yesterday with 69 Fat. Yesterday I was 106 Fat which is about 37 over. My sodium is runnining around 700-1000 over and sugar about 30 over. Not that big of a deal just frustrating trying to hit those marks, want to bring that sodium down. Well you should have a new baby anytime now man, thats great. You got 2 good looking boys, what you got coming a boy or a girl.Congrats!!!

NoExcuses79 K thanks I figured it really wouldnt matter, but I am on the same track as you, I don't want the creatine in with it unless I add it. I think Im gonna go with the whey Isolate and not sure but should I add a glutamine powder to this as well. This is what my line up would look like.......... NoExcuses79 Ok, right now Im taking NOS Blast. It is a multi-action workout formula, Idk if your familiar, Wal-Mart carries it. Its a crea pump blend, Neuro energy blend, vasosurge blend, Nitromax blend. Says it contains my creatine-L Arginine-Energy boost-BCAA. Im also taking a multi-vitamin. Im gonna add Omega 3 and some form of whey. What do you suggest for the whey and any additional supplements? Planned on picking from walmarts selection of whey. Thanks Apr 25, 2013 12:50am

NoExcuses79 Ok, well what ever your doing is working you look to be in great shape. I hope to look similar in a couple months. BTW love the pic with the kids, seems like a happy family. I have 3 children myself and I love them dearly. we workout togethter and do 5 days (3 weights and 2 bodyweight) probably gonna step it up after next week. I could handle more lift days but we are just starting and they are young so kinda starting slow. really trying to get our diet under control. Apr 24, 2013 9:00pm

buckiaj Just checked out your journey and progress pics, great job man!! You are a few inches taller than me, but I think we have pretty similar builds. I'm approaching 160 right now, but its going to probably take me getting down to just under 150 to really be ripped. I remember that same feeling, when i made my first goal weigh 175 and thought I would have dem abs and look ripped. hahaha....little did i know! keep at it bro! Feb 22, 2013 11:06am
