Clean up eating habits and relaunch exercise regime oriented towards healthy fat-loss while maintaining muscle mass. Target: 180 lbs at <12% bf by May 1, and maintained within +/-5lb range for balance of year
Goal (Long):
Wow, did I ever fall off the wagon in 2009. Some fairly big changes (new job, house, city, high stress) and I stopped working out regularly and even worse started eating like a pig again. 2 years ago I was probably in the best shape of my life or at least the best of the last 15 years. What a pitiful and disappointing change in direction. I'm now at the heaviest I've ever been in my life, with the largest waist size. 90% of this is due to poor eating habits.
I will lose 30 lbs to get down below 180 lbs and <12% bf by May 1/2010. I will do this in a healthy manner that will maintain muscle mass through regular heavy lifting and kettlebell workouts, while increasing cardio (bodyweight workouts and rowing machine/cycle), and regular stretching (yoga, pilates, and stretching).
Most importantly I will resume a healthy diet. This means 6 meals/day (3 meals + 3 "snack" meals), higher protein, lower simple carbs and saturated fats, higher water/green tea consumption. Without the diet all other efforts will fail or be diminished.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 30 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
12%

What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
Used to like running but have been getting hip/ITB pain whenever I've been running over the past year. I'm now experimenting with HIIT using rowing machine, spin cycle, and kettlebells
CURRENT: Getting back in shape program, hybrid of P90x, Beachbody Insanity, and Kettlebell workouts. MWF:Kettlebell workouts (working up to complete on AOS Providence)
T/Th/Su:Cardio(Plyo,Power,Re covery)
T/Th/S/Su (AM):alternate yoga and pilates
You def should use a recovery drink...we just use a high quality protien drink...I love Probolic...and chocolate is the best flavor...you would think water and chocolate powder would be gross, but it's def not...Keep up the good work...it won't be long before you start seeing changes...keep in touch.
oh, and i also had trouble in the first few weeks with bench so i tested the waters and laid on the bench and did dumbell flys for 3 sets of 8-10 and THAT left me sore. Next week i was able to do my bench pretty damn easy.
Ide try that before a reset
I think you should work both to the max. It's not uncommon to have an imbalance between the right and left hands. Just do what you can to bring the weaker hand up.
Hello there! About your question on putting on clean mass. For me it has been slow but noticable from when I started out 6-7 months ago. Eating clean (high lean protein min of 1 gram per body lb min, along with lots of fiber (salad and veggies and cutting the sugar and breads/pasta's), being diciplined with my lifting/cardio/rest plan is working for me. How is it going for you?
Concidering how hard it is for me to gain wieght I think I've had moderate success with the weight gainers. The first tub I got I put on about 7 lbs. Might not seem like much to most people but, for me it's pretty good in about two weeks.
