When I Started:
2008
How I Started:
I found out I had a problem with my lungs and because of it, I felt so weak. I had trouble walking, climbing steps, carrying grocery bags, etc. I decided I never want to be that guy again so I started working out.
Why I Love It:
It's a time to focus on what is important to me. It's like a high but without all the bad side effects!!
How I Stay Motivated:
Looking at videos and other guys photos. Seeing others improve helps motivate me. Seeing differences in my body gets me enthused....then I start planning how my training for tomorrow will go.

I want to do more squats. Since I have a breathing difficiency, squats really take a lot out of me. I run out of breath way before my legs are tired. It's so frustrating!! I have to find a way to overcome this. My goal is to be healthy, strong and vital, as I get older. I have two major obstacles....I starting lifting in my late thirties and my lung problems. I am going to do my best to overcome both. Not reaching my goals is NOT an option. This is my most important endeavor right now. I am at the beginning and I am looking forward to working hard to get the results I want though I wish I could breathe easier...It's the most frustrating obstcle that dictates how hard I can work, how long I can work and the amount of energy I can apply to my workouts. I will never be as large as I would like to be but it would be nice to be able to chill in Wildwood or Atlantic City without having some type of t-shirt on.

One thing about dieting. You really need to know how much and what your are eating. If it is really low carb, I recommend you boost the carbs every 6th day. M-F with low carb and Sat-Sun with higher carb.
I have a lot of respect for the character and determination it takes to overcome any physical challenge. Even better you want to boost your squats. Now that is what I am talking about. Having squatted for the last 2 decades I can unequivocally say that form trumps really heavy weight any day. Get your squat form right and make em deep. You will put on size no matter how heavy it is!
