I have been an athlete in some form or another for most of my life. After college I continued to go to the gym but really just went through the motions. I would do the typical 30 minutes on the elliptical and then knock out a few arm exercises and call it a day. One day I saw a 'before and after' pic of a girl from our gym who lost an impressive amount of weight and went on to compete in figure. I thought to myself 'if she can do it, so can I..' and from that point I never looked back.
Why I Love It:
I love the challenge. For me it is about the entire journey. I realized a long time ago that you cant be in the sport for the few minutes on stage. You have to learn to embrace and love the entire process. I love to see my body change and respond to my program.
How I Stay Motivated:
My motivation is constantly changing. Sometimes I am motivated by a show or a shoot. Other times I am just motivated by my love of the sport. And I am always motivated by others. I try and surround myself with postive, humble people who make me want to not only be a better competitor, but a better person. One of my best friends is Melissa Merritt and she has been by my side for the past year. I am inspired and motivated by her daily. I also have to say that her brother, who is also my boyfriend, Dave Merrit is my greatest supporter/motivater.
BB Accomplishments:
I feel blessed to just have competed. I won my WNBF Pro card at my first show. I also feel so fortunate to be part of Team iForce. Dave Nelson takes such great care of all of his athletes and I love that we never feel like we are just another number.
So I spent a fantastic weekend in ATX with my fam-it is rare that my two sisters and I are all together in the same city! One of my sisters is about to celebrate her sons 1st birthday and she looks fantastic! She looks like she has lost at least 10lbs...and let me just tell you I think I...
