I was tired of being fat. At 23 years old I weighed about 160 lbs. I had no muscle definition, no energy, a lot of cellulite, no confidence and no man.
Why I Love It:
I love to see my body change! I love the look and feel of muscles. The energy surge I get from working out is better than anything I've ever felt.
How I Stay Motivated:
I have 3 young girls ages 7,9 & 11... oldest and youngest are my step daughters and the middle one is mine. The youngest likes to go for runs, the middle one loves to play soccer, and the oldest is my tennis girl; and since they all like to do things with mom, I have to be able to keep up with them. I love to hear them tell their friends "my mommy used to be fat and now she's stronger than anybody". My children are my constant motivation!

No effort is ever wasted, even the slightest attempt at transforming ourselves makes a difference. It is our patient cumulative effort that grows into self-realization sooner or later.
Back from vacation refreshed and ready to begin round 2 of P90x. While I was at the beach I chose to not micro manage anything about my food or workouts. If I felt like eating it, i did. I didn't count calories at all. If I felt like going for a run, I did. Of course if I felt like...
One method I've read about is to increase your calorie intake by a couple hundred every couple weeks and monitor your body fat. At some point fat will start accumulating, then you know when to back off.
Sorry, I don't know your calorie requirements, but that sounds low. I haven't read too much about women's requirements. Maybe your body is going into starvation mode at 1300cals, like you suggested. Have you tried upping your intake for a few weeks to see what happens?
I commented that I'm going for strength, but my progress has been very slow. I have been wary of eating more to avoid body fat accumulation, but have started doing that lately. One bit of advice a trainer had for me was to make sure to include good fats in my diet because they help with metabolism. About 20% of your calories should come from fat. Are you taking something like that percentage?
That V in the abs is a belt of Adonis. If I was more interested in losing fat, I would have the other ab lines too, but want strength and mass first, so lines are not a priority.
