Background

When I Started: Aug 2002
HOW I STARTED:

I was motivated by another girl at my gym who was competing in Figure to start competing...so, I decided to take my training to the next level, hire a personal trainer and do a show! It was almost 2 years of training before I did my show, but competing served to be the right outlet for me, as I have always been athletic and into eating clean. I tried doing runs and the recreational sports thing, but nothing was really the right fit until I started doing Figure competitions.

WHY I LOVE IT:

It keeps me sane. I really believe that eating right and working out is just part of my genetic make-up anyway (lol), so I need to keep a regular schedule of eating right and working in order to feel like "ME". It is empowering and extremely invigorating to watch your physique change for the better and get stronger in the process...the gym has always felt like my sanctuary.

Day 1: Legs
Day 2: Shoulders
Day 3: Cardio only & Abs
Day 4: Plyos
Day 5: Back
Day 6: Chest
Day 7: OFF


Cardio: 45 minutes am cardio 6x/week. I get the rest of my "cardio" through my weight workouts.

Competing and fitness modeling! Having a big goal like my Figure competitions and then fitness modeling is very motivating when it comes to sticking to a clean diet and never missing workouts. Having a b/f who is heavily involved in the fitness industry himself, and who is supportive and also acts as one of my trainers is VERY motivating as well...we push and encourage eachother!

The Importance of My Routine!

For the past week I have been adjusting to living in a new city, and with that comes adjusting to a new routine.  I have been fortunate to have experienced living in a few different parts of the country over the past 3 years.  I love a new environment, different people, different pace of life, different scenery; it's really allowed me to grow both professionally and personally in such great ways.  Very soon I will be moving one more time (always prompted by professional/job-related reasons) and staying put for a much longer time, so I am enjoying this adventure of multi-city

October Training Update

I have been enjoying the past 6 weeks of my "off season" training.  Off Season, to me, still means having a very specific training and diet regimen...and remaining in good shape!  My goal is to remain "photo shoot" ready all year long, as I will be doing various photo shoots and appearances at least every 4 weeks.  This is very manageable and doesn't require killing myself in the gym; in fact, I am cutting my steady state cardio sessions down to 1/week and manipulating my diet and training to do most of the caloric burning, as opposed to...
