I was the big kid in 2nd grade. I was already playing soccer, so I was running, but it wasn't cutting it. So, I got a weight set at a garage sale up the street and the rest is history
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling of self improvement. I love knowing that no matter what kind of day I'm having the weights don't care. A kilo is a kilo and a pound is a pound the world round.
How I Stay Motivated:
I'm motivated now mostly through competitons and seeing changes in myself and those that I train. Running out of weights in the gym to put on the bar, having my belts be way to big and my pants still trying to sag, beginning to see definition and vascularity that I thought was long gone, and watching my 2 boys develop a LOVE for the gym.
BB Accomplishments:
You really don't want me to list a bunch of things that you've never heard of...but
second place nationals Bando martial arts.
national squat champion ADAU.
and a few powerlifting meets here and there.

-Musclespeed rocks. Jus' sayin'.
Do you track your workouts (exercises, weight, reps, etc.)?
Yes
If so, how do you do it? Workout log, software program, etc.? Why do you do it this way?
I keep a workout log. It is easiest for me to use the good ole' paper and pen.

Where do you mainly workout?
Home
Why? What are the pros and cons of working out there?
Always open, kid friendly, and has the best equipment in town bar none.

What should look for in a gym? What should you avoid?
Look for chalk, sturdy bars, and lots of weight. Well built and maintained equipment, and good ventilation. Avoid chrome, places that don't allow deadlifts, or anywhere where you have no access to free weights.Look for chalk, sturdy bars, and lots of weight. Time to transition from the modified v-diet to contest mode (3 weeks).
I'll be headed to camp to teach this week comming (hope of hopes my musclespeed v.2 comes in time! If not, trip home!) and try to survive all of the glorious camp food. I'm taking alot of protein powder, my blender, and...
hey thanks for the rep! haha, the only reason i was red was because some jerk sent gave me a bad rep calling me a queer.. i tried but can't get the guy banned.
thanks, i'll try. haha. training has been going great actually. i missed this week due to being sick, but since moving back to clearfield i haven't missed one session and i've been getting new PRs almost every week. i'm crossing my fingers that this doesn't stop. haha. i've been going to body matrix, but i do still plan on stopping at your gym when i get the chance.
hey, i saw you last night at walmart.. i work in grocery. i would have said hi, but i'm just getting over being really sick and haven't gotten my voice back yet. lol.
actually we finally got one. the guy just got back to me the other day, but thanks for looking. i'll be right outside of clearfield. where is your church located?
hey man.. i'm moving back to clearfield county and i'm having an extremely hard time finding an apartment.. do you know anyone who has anything available?
Yep, yest's wakeup call translated into clean eating last night & great w/o this morning. Wishing God's blessing for ya today Matt. And Happy B-day to your kiddo. :)
Thx for the suggestions on my nighttime eating. I confess to being a stress eater or when I'm down. Resolving to get back on strict clean diet today.....my pants were a little tighter getting dressed this morning.
Ditto. I still listen to some of my old fav's w/ my earphones on while working out (Chicago, EW&F, Eagles, Yes, U2, Billy Joel, etc.) Yep, showing my age too. But there's also some good contemporary Christian music too, some which is rockin'! :D
Hi,
There's a trick to the coffee/protein powder drink. Use cold or room temp coffee and mix the powder in. Then nuke it. If you add the powder while the coffee is hot, it'll all glob up. It tastes just like a Starbucks mocha coffee...which is my favorite.
