"Mass, mass, mass! Solid trunk and back. I need to gain back the focus that I've lost since quitting gym 4 weeks ago. Running keeps me strong and stable but need to work on upper body."

Personal Info And Background:
Real Name: Matt Hardesty
Sex: Male
Age: 38
Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia
Occupation: Customs Broker
Personal Website:
Gym: Home etc
Gym Location: The world is my gym
When I Started: Aug, 2006
How I Started: Early 2006 I weighed about 210 lbs and was extremely unhappy. Luckily my friend bugged me to go to a boxing class and when i finally did, it was the beginning of something special.
Why I Love It: People ask why I push myself physically. I say, "If you have to ask, you will never understand". It is something only those select few know. Those who put themselves through pain, but know, deep down, how good it really feels.
"Even if I fail again and again to accomplish my purpose -- as I must until weakness is overcome -- the strength of character gained will be the measure of my true success, and this will form a new starting point for future power and triumph."
How I Stay Motivated: 2 things:
1. I see people walking around who clearly have no ambition or drive and I completely see the person I used to be. Never again!
2. Being seen as a person that people can come to for advice is challenging. I love helping people feel what I feel through my actions and words - pure and simple.
BB Accomplishments: 4 hour bike challenge for charity. Came out the other side cramped and sore but I came out the other side and that's the important part.
Forum Signature: Believe while others are doubting, begin while others are procrastinating, work while others are wishing,
Persist while others are quitting!"

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of...

Hey Matt, had to take a two week break, my knee was screaming to death, so rather do what the doctor tell me to do (and since she knows me I know she ask the minimum) Tomorrow I will do some stationary bike, and some light weights to keep, next week we will see.

You already started by taking short runs. Some people think in terms of a 5 plan: walk 5 minutes, run 5 minutes, and so on. Remember that when running in order to do it right you run at a speed that you can keep normal conversation, faster than that, your running workout will not help you build air.

In a way yes, it is complicated, and I should focus more on what I can do rather than what is out of my reach. At this point I'm about to ask my Sensei to postpone the belt examination, and already talked with a car rental, the fact is I'm going to run this weekend.
