Early 2006 I weighed about 210 lbs and was extremely unhappy. Luckily my friend bugged me to go to a boxing class and when i finally did, it was the beginning of something special.
Why I Love It:
Bodybuilding has put me on a path in life i'd NEVER thought possible. I see things more clearly... I know what it's like to push myself to the limits.
It's taught me that it's a simple equation.... fat or strong is not a FEELING - it's a result of either doing the wrong things or pushing yourself to the edge. Your choice.
How I Stay Motivated:
2 things:
1. I see people walking around who clearly have no idea of the power they hold inside or how to tap into it. I want to help people discover that and feel as strong as they can.
2. I want to be that guy. That guy that everybody looks at and asks "How does he do it?"
BB Accomplishments:

Persist while others are quitting!
My wife took this when i wasn't looking-of course i was pissed off when i saw it but the truth hurts and it was exactly what i needed to get my ass in gear!
Solid diet and intensely focused movement. Back to the weights and keep up with goals. Review, revise, reward!
Goal (Long):
By Jan 15 '09 :
85 cm waist by Dec15 '09 through diet and continued strength training;
2 sets of 8 x 80kg squats by Jan 15 '10
10 x 30kg preacher curl (Did it!)
2 sets of 8 pullups by Jan 1st '10
5k run in 22 minutes by Dec 15 '09
12-15
I feel if I can do 4 sets of 12 and fail at the end then that will make me want to push out 4 complete sets of 15-12. I want endurance not massive bulk.

How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
I like 90 seconds to recover however if it's a big day I'm happy with 1 minute. If I can build my recovery to the extent that I can get fully ready for the next set in a minute then that's perfect. Where do you mainly workout?
Gym
Why? What are the pros and cons of working out there?
Pros: I need like-minded people around me. Call that weak but it's a short-coming that I know I have to overcome.
If I see someone curling 17.5kgs then I want to be better than that guy. It drives me to be better.Pros: I need like-minded people around me. Call that weak but it's a short-coming that I know I have to overcome.

Hey Matt,
Hows it going? Still working it hard? I'm having a hard time getting to the gym..We have a rental that was trashed and needs our attention. I can't wait to get back on a regular schedule! Keep up the good work!
:( In the end did not compete, that day the son of my best school yard friend was born, so it was just a matter priorities, I'm ready and already bought the participation for the Leonística (Lion's club) of Guadalupe, which is one of the few I do every year.
Hey Mat what's up?
Next Sunday I will be running the 10km race of the Odontologists, this is a quite fast race. What is going on in your side of the world?
Matt, good to read about your different progress in the progress and goals section, Keep in touch keep training smart. Next stop for me is this coming Reto Powerade ;)
Hey Matt,
Thanks for the add! Man, you have made some good progress since 2006. Looking really fit. Hang in there, best to get it done before you get my age. Things do not happen to quickly, at least not for me they don't!
yeah that knee thing was horrible glad u know where im comming from, Im currently looking for better running shoes cause the ones i have now are kicking in planters ficitis ever how u spell it and once the heat kicks in i can start running out side too!!!!!!
Thank you, but the situation in the area of the epicentre is still not nice affecting of course the most needed people, it will take some time to recover the area. Costa Rica is a nice country but from time to time we get this reminders that we are a new country geologicaly speaking as well.
