Do push-ups and sit-ups when I was 3 years old count? By the time I was in 3rd grade I was doing 50 reps of each non-stop every morning and every night with good form (my dad never let me cheat). I've worked out and played sports all my life but I started bodybuilding when I helped out my best friend pump up backstage. It was awesome being there. I found myself comparing my body with the guys in the show. It was so motivating that I took my workouts to the next level and I've never looked back.
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling I get. I'm a very competitive person so I get a lot of motivation from knowing I'll be standing on stage knowing that the other guys are working hard to beat me. Also, I remember when I walked out to the crowd and my clients were there to support me. The first thing I heard was "are you the same guy that's been standing next to me instructing to me? I had no idea you looked like that! Now I see why you push me so hard". Since that moment on I know that my hard work could motivate other people to lead healthier lifestyles as well.
How I Stay Motivated:
If I quit, what kind of example am I setting? Also, I love to see some new muscular changes everytime I do another show. Positive change is good motivation.
BB Accomplishments:
Making it through my diet without biting anyone who looks at me ;o) I've competed in 4 shows now and made steady progress each time. My last contest was the 2006 WA Ironman, where I placed 3rd 0f 7 in Men's open Middleweight (last year I was 5th of 8).
Gain about 5 solid pounds to bring up my arms and shoulders, while preparing for my upcoming show.
Goal (Long):
I've recently joined the INBF (International Natural Bodybuilding Federation) because it was brought to my attention that they have strict drug testing policies in place to make sure that competitors are natural and judged upon symmetry and muscle as well as definition and not just whoever is the freakiest mass monster.
I've registered to compete in the WA State show on August 11th so I have started dieting and training hard for that show. I would really like to win the show, but as long as I come in ready and in the best shape of my life i'll be happy.
