When I Started:
May, 1983
How I Started:
Was skinny and picked on in school. Started doing bodyweight exercises described in library books when in Junior High School. Got good at pullups, pushups and situps and suprised and annoyed my gym instructor in 8th grade by getting "presidential fitness award". Went from "Charles Atlas Course" to real weights in high school, then really hit the weights hard at Purdue and while co-oping.
Why I Love It:
Body appearance, strength and feel. Confidence and control.
How I Stay Motivated:
Trying to keep up with my younger partners and the many superior physiques in the gym, in the mags and online.
What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
Elliptical trainer w/ heart rate regulation. I can read and listen to music of the right tempo and ignore the cardio.
