In March I went through a very painful and difficult breakup. When the split happened I decided I needed to change my life in more ways than one. I am lucky enough to have a friend who had recently started going to the YMCA and needed a workout partner. From there I started hitting the YMCA several days a week. It has just kinda snowballed from there, it's not my goal to be a professional body builder but I definately want to regain the 40 lbs I lost during my failed relationship.
Why I Love It:
When my relationship ended I was a heavy drinker and had some drug problems to say the least. Since I've been hitting the gym I have been able to cut out all of my substance abuse habits. Working out helps teach me patience, something I've been short on in the past. I won't see my results today or tomorrow but if I stick with it, much like staying clean, I will see the results in my life over time.
How I Stay Motivated:
I focus on where I've been and how hard it was for me to get away from those dark places. I love knowing that the harder I work the better I become. You can't even imagen how motivating it is to know that you threw away 7 years of your life and now you have a chance to reclaim all that time and more if you just put one foot infront of the other day after day.
This is me in the begining. This was the second week of hitting the gym and my second day without drugs. I was 140 lbs at this point, too scrawny for me to feel very confident about myself.
I haven't worked out as much as I should lately but I am getting back on top of my game. Thanks for being here
I would like to get up to between 180 and 210 lbs. I would also like to have a ripped six pack again!
Goal (Long):
I am working out three plus days a week (outside of my recent back injury) to improve my physique. I do arms a minimum of three days a week with focus on bench press, curls, tricep press and clap motion flys. Two days a week, usually my off arms day, I work legs focusing on squats, cross leg dead lift, leg presses and a full rotation on the leg machines at my local YMCA. Four days a week I also do ab workouts. I usually do 4 sets of 150 six inch leg lifts, with each set seperated by 30-60 seconds of sustained 3-6 inch hold em's. Two to three days a week I also do leg lifts in the Roman Chair and decline situps. As far as diet goes I eat between 3000 and 4000 calories a day with the help of three protein shakes a day and a lot of pasta.

Major transformation. You had this sketchy Dustin Diamond look in 1st progress pic, and it's like someone else climbed out of that skin.
The best revenge is never looking back. Keep getting bigger.
Hey dude, haven't heard from you in awhile. Nice half inch gain on the bi's. How'd you gain 2" in the forearms. I've been killin myself with the wristcurlers to gain in my forearms. Later......
Thanks a lot for the great comment, Greg. FWIW, that picture came out a little tweaked, so I think my arms look a little more "diesel" than they are, but I am making progress, and it's great to hear about it. :-) You on the other hand alreacy look awesome, and I'll be sure to pay attention to your progress. Good luck, man.
Sorry to hear you had such a bad breakup, but congratulations on pulling yourself out of it, and getting your life back. I've had similar experiences, and know how hard it is. You look great, Man. Keep it up. Given your dedication to your body and mind, whoever get's you next is gonna me a lucky person. :-)
Hey - Gotta love the confidence that's coming through in your new pics. Shoulders look great!- best thing though is the satisfaction in your eyes. That's what its all about. Keep it up, buddy.
hey man! Thanks for the comments :)
My best advice for gaining the weight is eat eat eat lol. I have been eating 6-10 meals a day. Ya look like ya got a fast metabolism, so eat more and more lol :P
good luck man :)
Well thank you so much:) I agree that 10-13% bf is best for women...anything lower and you start to lose that feminine look. I am pretty much happy with my body as is, I just need to stay consistent with my training and diet to keep it that way! I appreciate your feedback, thanks again!!
Thanks for those kind words :-) it's hard sometimes to not want to just lose weight and be thin, but I'm slowly realising a hard body is muh better than a skinny one!
Good luck with your goals! With your present bodyfat, you will be ripped at your goal weight. Yeah I wanna expand my arms and chest too. Keep up the good work.
