The first time I started lifting weights on a consistent basis was a few years ago. I wasn't really overweight but had no muscle. This past year I have been on and off. I'm hoping to make it much more of a regular thing in 2007!
Why I Love It:
Most of all because lifting weights is very energizing to me. I also like feeling pumped up and strong and fitting into a size 4.
How I Stay Motivated:
Loud music and caffeine.
BB Accomplishments:
None.... : )

I want to finally start lifting heavy, go from 24% body fat to at least 18%, and have killer triceps!
Goal (Long):
I'm starting Body for Life on Monday Jan. 22nd. I will finish on or around my birthday in April. I would like to see how I shape up and whether at some point I could compete. I decided to start a bodyspace record so I could have better information and accountability.
I'll be taking first pics this weekend and posting them.
I was sick for a week and a half and on antibiotics, but I'm down to 125.5. Got back to lifting on Thursday and hadn't lost any strength. I have one month left on my Body for Life program. I was going to take progress pictures, but am waiting, because even though there's improvement,...
Baby, 5HTP is "better on the light side of the Force" (heheheh) than benadryl! I'll keep my eyes open for anything that helps - I have problems sleeping myself... hugs
I hope you have better luck than me. My wife lasted 2 mo. with the food and a little longer with the exercising. She's not overweight, her nutrition sucks and is subject to daily debate.
I haven't found the Tanita scale to be accurate or reliable. It says my body fat is higher than 3 weeks ago. But the Omron hand held machine says that I'm down 2.5 - 3 points, which seems more like it. I've lost some girth off of my waist, and I look better in the mirror. The weight does seem accurate however.
Thanks for the nice comments about my photography! As far as tips go, be different is the first thing that comes to mind. And shot and shoot. At least with digital the cost of film and development for all that practice is gone. I am going to be adding more photography related info and reports to my regular Blog at http://secondfocus.blogspot.co m/. So you might start checking in there for more. THANKS!
Good luck with the Body for Life program. I did it 2 years ago, and it was the best thing I have ever done. Do yourself a big favor and take before and after pictures, you will be amazed.
