When I Started:
May, 2009
How I Started:
I didn't actually intend to get into bodybuilding in any way, I just wanted to lose weight after letting myself get out of control. I maxed out at a little over 180lbs, my clothes were tight and I was totally unfit. It didn't happen overnight and I didn't even see it in myself, despite having to buy bigger clothes. Anyway, one day I stood on the scales to see what I weighted and got one hell of a shock. I had never been that heavy before. I was always the skinny one. It was disgusting and I decided then and there to change.
So, I started walking 2-3miles every day, and bought a cheap set of dumbbells. I had no idea about workouts though, so started looking around and came across this site. I then bought a better set with plates as well as a barbell and started following some of the routines I found here. I also got a copy of P90X, although I didn't use any of the cardio sessions.
I'm now down about 44lbs and so much fitter, although I still have a long way to go. I now want to transform my body, becoming more muscular and lean, as apposed to "skinny fat".
Why I Love It:
I love working out because I know that each time I lift a weight I'm improving my health, fitness and appearance.
How I Stay Motivated:
I keep looking at the profiles of other members on this site and see what I want for myself. I see how they keep going and it inspires me to do the same.

My goal is to lose as much body fat as I can while building a good amount of muscle.
Goal (Long):
Not looking to be a body builder or enter competitions, but would like to have a healthy looking body, with some nice muscle definition. So, basically, lose the fat and build the muscle. Ideally I'd like to get to about 18-20% body fat.
What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
Brisk walking. I have an old injury so it's about all I can do. I sometimes ride my bike, but the weather isn't always in my favour.

What is your cardio exercise plan?
Basically I walk for about an hour a day at around 4mph. So far it's been working fine. Even if it doesn't do much for fat loss, it's good for cardiovascular health.
Currently doing the P90X programme. Monday Chest & Back, Wednesday Shoulders & Arms, Friday Back & Legs.
Cardio is restricted to low impact, either brisk walking or cycling, depending on weather.
