Hooks H S Attended 1990 to 1994 Hooks, Texas United States
When I Started:
Nov, 2003
How I Started:
During my college years, my Professor of Military Science encouraged me to begin working out. He told me that I had a good physique I just needed to “tweak” a few areas. After I returned to the U.S. from Iraq, I was working out in a local gym when the owner walks over to me and asks if I am ready to compete. My initial thought was “no”, but after a little more convincing, I decided to enter the competition. In that competition, I placed third in the novice lightweight division and I have been hooked ever since.
Why I Love It:
I love training because it requires discipline and dedication to self improvement. The effect weight training has on the has on the mind and body is what I love most about the iron sport.
How I Stay Motivated:
The benefits of a healthy lifestyle motivate me to continue training.
BB Accomplishments:
Appeared in the January 2008 edition of Flex magazine in the Military Muscle section.

I plan on entering four contests this year. The first show I am entering is scheduled for 3 October in Dover, DE. I'm using this show as a "warm up" show. The next three shows, 31 October and 14 November and 21 November are pro qualifiers (natural).
That's tight man, he must've found a loop hole that let him retire and keep the same job, no? We gotta touch base at homecoming sometime, been trying to et the old crew back up for a spell!
Man, I was on the NROTC side, but we spoke to LtCol P on the regular - that brother was good-to-go! I'm sorry I didn't keep up with him, he was always motivated and came out on a few runs with us just to show how the Army gets down!
Well if you ever need help bro, holla atcha boy. I'm working a friends music so we'll see how that goes and if he likes it. Looking to come in fuller next years so I've been squatting and leg pressing my ass on, lol. I need more glutes, lol.
I can't do that contest for about 5 more years...lol. I'm not sure just yet, looking for something where they have a open class so I don't have to worry about the pro-hormones i've used.
I might start competing next year, It'll all depend how quick I can lengthen my lats. They are lacking now (Just put profile pictures up), but If they get there I'm golden. Should manage about 190 @% which is the goal for when I leave Iraq
Hey Eric, I dunno if I'm gonna compete this year. I'm still lifting my ass off. Just put up some new pics even. I think I'm gonna do a bulk throughout the winter and put on serious mass.
I would like to thank you for saying that you find me inspirational. Those words coming from someone such as yourself is also a real honor. It is comments from people like you here at Bodybuilding.com that equally keeps me inspired, as well as allowing me to continue believing and trumpeting that fitness can truly make a difference in people’s lives.
Stay strong, focused and determined & may God bless.
I only entered one show.. Now back to bulk mode, I will have to see what show I want to do next year, I was thinking about returning to the next september show and really start slaying there.I'm just not gonna sacrifice all my hard earn muscle to come in under 200 pounds. I'm a taller than 6' foot and and should be no less than heavy weight starting out, towards the end of the road super heavy
feel pretty good. I want to come back bigger and nail the conditioning down next time.. I do not feel that I was out posed or anything like that. With some of these shows, they need to look at the complete package, I see they will pick people that can't pose but are in good condition..
No, I decided (with the advice of a personal trainer) that I wasn't ready for a show this year. I will either do the NGA Mt. Rogers or Potomac Cup in July 2010. My plan is to get to about 215-220, then cut to a lean 195-200. It's good that I have some help with this. Nice progress pics, BTW. Good luck in Dover!
