Background
I broke my right knee playing ice hockey and needed another way of keeping fit. I tried running (even completing the London Marathon in 2004), but that made me look too skinny. I did not like the look of myself and was even teased by my friends for being so skinny... I started lifting iron as it was a good way of keeping fit and getting bigger but also because it was a sport I could do with my bad knee.
What a great feeling it is to open the door of that gym, change in my workout gear, put those gloves on and my best intense music blasting into my ears. The gym is my world, my universe, it is like I am on my own, a battle against the iron but mainly a battle against myself and my limits! The result after an hour of intense workout is so gratifying: a better and fitter body, a clear, positive and happy soul.
