Overall Goal: I'm training for a 14th Annual Indianapolis half marathon at present. It's my first half and I'm very scared. I want to finish. Don't care about my time. I just want to finish.

My weight isn't budging but I've lost a dress size and am losing inches. Making slow progress...

When I Started:
Jul, 2008
How I Started:
I started working out when I was 14. I joined a local gym and started step classes and lifting light weights. It was only 4 years ago that I got really serious about lifting heavy. I hired a trainer and he taught me everything that I know about working out. Recently, I started running and will be participating in my first half-marathon in October. I love exercising, but food is constant issue. Everyone says that good nutrition is 90% of getting the body you want and I'm really trying to fix my erratic eating habits.
Why I Love It:
It makes me feel strong. I rather lift weights everyday than run. I took up running as a challenge, but lifting is what I love best.
How I Stay Motivated:
Honestly, I've fallen off the bandwagon yet again! But, what really gets me going is seeing the amazing transformations on this website.

I just stumbled upon her blog and I was shocked to see how much her body has changed! Her transformation is amazing and inspirational and it has motivated me to get myself into shape.
Ever since I have joined bodyspace, she has always pushed me and has always been extraordinarily supporting of me I am amazed at her dedication and amazing transformation. She constantly motivates me. Truly one of my favorite people on this site!
Do you monitor your heart rate while doing cardio?
Yes
Do you use a heart rate monitor? Which one?
I just bought a Polar F6 HRM and it's absolutely fabulous.
What heart rate do you aim for while doing cardio? Why?
I try to work beyond my OwnZone of 132-152.

What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
I really like spinning, but given that its 98F most evenings in Florida (where I am working this summer) I prefer to go for an early morning run most weekday mornings.
I was at the grocery store today and I saw a woman (my age) dig into a basket of Quaker Oats Chewy 90 calorie bars. They were on sale and she kept on piling the boxes of those bars in her cart. Now, she was quite overweight and shouldn't be eating that junk in the first place. False...
You are so adorable I wish I could hug you! Thank you. I am a little off the mark, a few inches shy of what I wanted to be, but I honestly cannot complain. I am glad that we can help each other...after all, that is what friends are for!
You HAVE been busy! I am sorry to hear you are missing your fam, I know how hard that is. Hopefully you have some great summer memories to hold onto back in Indiana. Great job on getting out in the sunshine for a nice long walk! Feel better? Thank you for always being so sweet. You help me to push myslef. :)
Ugh, girl, believe me. Last week was pretty bad. And I "cheated" several times this weekend. But, this week I am back on track. Life happens sometimes....we just need to take it one day at a time and do what we can with what we've got. Have a great run!
Well thanks girl, with the BEAUTIFUL smile! How's the marathon training going? Did you switch up the diet? And don't worry about the time, just enjoy the journey and the accomplishment:-)
Well, thank you! That is only one goal attained of several....have to kick it up a notch in order to do what needs to be done. I have been slack the past couple weeks. But, I am proud of the BF loss. :)
Concentrate on form. 2 books I recommend are "chi running" and "brain training for runners". You have enough time, but you need to get comfortable with base runs between 3-5 miles, and build your long run. I'd try 3 base runs and 1 long run per week. Weeks 1-4: 3 mile base run, 4-5-6-4 LongRun. Weeks 5-8: 4 mile base, 7-8-9-7 LR. Weeks 9-12: 5 mile base 10-11-12-10 LR Race week: 4 mile base runs + the race. Good luck, keep moving forwards and enjoy your journey.

you need to take time off mybe 1 or 2 days. if that does not work try riding a bike for 3 to 5 miles for 1 week then try and run again. I ran a 3/4 marthon back in 2007 and that is what i did. but if you and trying to run 1/2 marthon then you need to run one on your own 3 to 4 times to make sure you can do it. it takes alot out of you if your not ready.
May I just say, that you look absolutely stunning in this pic. You are so pretty. You are going to be breaking necks pretty soon, watch out! DANGEROUS!
Aw, you have a great 4th as well my friend. PM me when you get a minute and let me know if you went on the Scivation site. How did you change your meal planning? Inquiring minds want to know:)
Great start and remember this is only the beginning for you imagine what is going to feel like when you step on the scale and 10 pounds... 15 pounds just melt off:)
