I was in sports when I was younger, but I got diagnosed with scoliosis and laid off working out, period, for 4 years. Then my senior year in highschool a friend and I joined a gym and, before you know it, I was working out all the time. College came and I took a couple of weight lifting classes plus my morning and evening routine working out. I got obsessed with it, became an amateur bodybuilder for a little while, then lack of time spent with lovers, family, and friends further convinced me of laying off. Actually, I got real skinny after I competed and just.. lost the will to continue, so to speak. I am now an Exercise Physiologist with a Bachelors in Kinesiology and a Health and Fitness Instructor ACSM cert. My routines have dwindled from hypertrophy training and now I just concentrate on my cardiovascular health and kicking my ass through stability exercises. My main workouts revolve around cross fit and monkey bar gym stuff.
Why I Love It:
I've always like turning my body into something new. I mean I've been too thin, too big, too muscular, too scrawny, etc. You name it. Now, not all areas were intentional, but the body is an awesome thing.
How I Stay Motivated:
My job, my boyfriend, and the voice in the back of my head telling me I need to be toned. I basically want to be able to run down the beach in a bikini without anything moving. haha
BB Accomplishments:
Benched 225 once. Squated 400 lbs. Yeah, I don't know how I did it either.
This was taken at Pace Bend after a couple of mized drinks. Weight was 147.
Today was the first time in a long time that I fit into my skinny clothes- no "slim and fit".. I'm getting more muscular. My glutes, abs, and chest are reaping the benefits of the mountain biking, running, cross-fit training, and regular workouts.
No problem, thanks for the response. I might have to try some of the crossfit workouts, it seems to have a lot of different training ideas than traditional weight lifting does.
Good luck with everything,
Greg
Looking lean, keep up the hard work. You look great!! How do you like doing the crossfit I have been thinking about starting it to go along with weight training?
