Background

When I Started: Aug 1999
HOW I STARTED:

When I was 16 a co-worker of mine had a muscular physique that I really admired. Started talking fitness with him and then worked out with him a few times and then joined a local gym. Worked out on an off through the last few years of high school and first couple years of community college. When I went away to University I got serious about lifting, dragging my roommate with me to the student rec 4 to 5 times a week to lift. Actually met my wife there at the rec, she was a big lifter herself. So after we both graduated and moved to Illinois, we joined a gym and a few pro's that work out there convinced my fiance to do a competition. Out of support for her, I dieted down with her and decided to do the show with her. After that first time on stage I got addicted and have been at it ever since.

WHY I LOVE IT:

I love BB because of the drive that it gives me. I get a high from the feeling of a great pump. Training and dieting for months for those 15 minutes on stage, such a great feeling when your up there.

Friends and BB

So I moved from central Illinois to Soutwest Michigan last week, back to where many of my friends live. It's been tough to try to manage the friends and gym time here. In Illinois my friends only knew me as a gym guy and worked around my going to the gym. Back in Michigan most of my friends knew me before I was "serious'' about the gym. They are having a hard time realizing that I can't do anything till 7 pm by the time I lift and get home. I will say that the new gym is much better then the old in the feel and equipment selection, and I know if I don't derail myself that I will make some...

Cardio with the Dogs

So as the weather is beginning to get warmer here in Illinois, I have started to do my AM cardio session outside. Not sure how the dogs like it though as I take one or the other with me, so they have to get up early as well.


What's been nice though is that I am starting to feel leaner, when I do shows and I am starting to get leaner I always start to feel tighter in the hamstrings all the time. I have never felt it this far away from a show though, 9.5 weeks out. I feel encouraged and thought I'd throw that out there for everyone. Anyone else ever notice the tightness in the H
