After two months off with moving and getting some what settled in England, I joined the local gym. DAMN is it exspensive. 100 dollars a month and it is no where as nice as the cheapest back in the states. I am realizing that the exchange rate is totally bull here. No reason why shit is...
I am off today but workout out on base and just stopped by the station to see if the other shift is going to a bar on base to watch the UFC fight, and they are, so i am hanging out til we leave...I know, I'm lame!! lol
yea we have an awesome department. I think like most departments we run more medicals than anything. We have our share of TA's as well. What about you guys??
we have 3 stations and run about 20+ line ff's a shift. We usually put the management positions out to the public, but realistically the hires are from inside. :o)
Not a fan of the cardio either. I figured out that as soon as I start liking the cardio routine I'm doing I need to change it. Because I'm getting good at it and its not challenging me anymore! Argh
SEE...Hazmat is awesome!!
I actually started to volunteer at a small volunteer/paid dept right outside the base. A lot of the paid guys at Carson were vollys there. I smoozed and made sure whenever a fire chief from Carson was around I introduced myself etc...Then they were hiring, I put in, the chief asked one of the guys if I was worth a shit.....lol He for some reason said yes..lol And my app was selected to go through the testing process...and well they hired 3..and here I am...
I must say...34 and an AC is pretty impressive. I actually LOVE it at Carson. This is the only department I have worked for as a paid FF, but have no desire to go anywhere else. I am doing exactly what I want to be in the fire service (HazMat), and it appears that I have a tremendous opportunity here with that (Most everyone else here hates Hazmat on my shift, so I get to play!! lol)
Well, lets see...I'm getting a second job to pay off bills (I remember what it felt like to be debt free before...it was a good feeling) and get a new car. England will likely come sometime after those plans are underway. LOL
Hello! Things are going well for me. I'm taking online classes to get a degree in Media Arts and Animation. Pretty exciting. Ten times smaller than our little playground?? Yikes, that bites!
