Event training (changes periodically)

Fasted HIIT (swimming, cycling, or running)

Lower body: Deadlift, squat, good morning, lunge 15-20 reps x 5 sets. Step ups 8 reps x 3 sets (alternate moderate and high weight). Heavy squat (moderate, high, heaviest weight) 6-4-2 reps. heavy leg press (moderate, high, heaviest weight) 6-4-2 reps.

Upper body (arms/back): Pull ups with trx 8 reps x 3 sets, push ups with bosu ball 6-8 reps x 3 sets, assisted tricep dips 8-6-4 reps x 3 sets

Core: weighted leg raises 8 reps x 3 sets, declined sit ups w plate 12-15 reps x 3 sets, pull downs (moderate, high, heaviest weight) 20-15-8 reps x 3 sets, woodchoppers top and bottom (moderate, high, heaviest weight) 15-12-8 reps

funsize3 created a new BodyBlog entry "Bricks and quest bars".

Did bricks and had coffee and a quest bar prior. Didn't turn out so well. Felt tired, especially during inclines. Going to keep these for post-workout consumption. So far, what works is Berry shake > Honey/Ezekiel Bread > Bonk Breakers > Quest bars. Going to try protein pancakes next. Go to BodyBlog

funsize3 not sure why i'm craving pancakes, does anyone have recipes to suggest? I like to keep it simple. almond milk, whey, eggs(?), cinnamon?

  • 1/4 cup ground flax seed
    1 egg
    1 TB heavy cream
    1 tsp butter, melted
    1/8 teaspoon baking powder

    mix it all together and pour in your oiled pan

  • You can also split the ground flax seed portion into 1/8c almond flour and 1/8c ground flax. I also have a similar recipe using oat flour and wheat flour.

Funny name right? Picked this up at the bike shop just to try, caught my eye because it said "Gluten and Dairy free". Normally, I find blueberry by itself disgusting ;). BUT this was great. I had my morning coffee with it and went on a ride and did fairly well. Me vs. the wind is another blog....but anyhow.... ;P So far this is my favorite consumer energy bar. Want to try the Dark Cherry next, but will try a quest bar next ride. *Some also have more protein than others Go to BodyBlog

NoBell Those bricks are worth their weight in GOLD. Keep after em - atleast 1 a week..and vary up the structure (some focus more on bike strength where the run is a recovery, some focus more on shorter, intense intervals for bike bike and run, or do a swim or run, OR do a hard run followed by a swim focused more on drills and alil speed).
