It felt like a natural progression from gymnastics.
Why I Love It:
The pump, the adrenaline boost, the good feeling it produces, increases strength and stature, self-confidence, aesthetic form.
How I Stay Motivated:
When I feel the inclination to regress or make long pauses from working out, lethargy hits and I'm reminded of the fragility of the human body. In this case, I perceive the regime of constant treacherous physical strain that I impose on my body when I work out, not as a exercise of free will, but of pure, raw necessity. Also, as soon as I feel any slight inclination toward discontinuing the training for a while, the realization that most of this society is decadent, lazy, and disgustingly overweight thwarts me back to the weights. Lastly, the need to use what nature has given me in order to further improve my physical appearance motivates me.
BB Accomplishments:
-2nd place at in men's novice lightweight division in a 2005 bodybuilding competition in New York.
-twice 3rd place at the Canadian Classic natural bodybuilding competition in 2005/2006
-second place at Fame Fitness Halloween Mayhem competition in Toronto in 2007
Being an ectomorph with an extremely high metabolism, I have always been slim and lean, but have difficulty developing more muscle mass. The process of gaining more muscle mass has been very gradual and has required a heavy and steady year-round consumption of calories and carbohydrates. I don't have the luxury of the "off season" mass gaining which most bodybuilders have. My goal, which can provide strength gains during winter. On the other hand, I suppose there is an advantage to being lean all year round. In any case, I'm happy with the progress I've made and would ideally like to gain approximately 10 more pounds of muscle, so that I could reach 150lbs, which would be ideal for my frame.
