When I Started:
Jul, 2007
How I Started:
I started out as most do with being overweight, a lifetime of bad habits. I've lost the weight and gained it back, but this time is different. This time I'm learning and replacing habits, making it a lifestyle. When I saw I was about to tip the scales at 250 lbs. I decided this was it, enough was enough!
I really woke up to what I was doing to myself. I took the blinders off to what I was not only doing to myself, but to my kids. I was insuring a future of disease and early death, and that was the LAST thing I wanted them to see or learn.
In late August of 2005 (for the LAST time, I promised myself), I started changing my eating habits and learning how to cope emotionally without turning to food. It's taken a lot longer for me to reach my goals, but I've made SO much progress in my mind set and REAL lifestyle changes than any “diet” could EVER match. Every day I learn something else and become more confident in who I am and who I'm becoming, I have something to be proud of.
Recently... an injury led me to an unexpected turn in my life’s journey. Who said inuries were a bad thing!? That is what peaked my interest in lifting, an injury to my hip from running with poor posture. I was already lifting, but I was just going through the motions. After my injury, with only the elliptical for exercise, I turned to my weights more. That's when I realized there was more to it than just "lifting". I also tapped into the feeling I've always loved, being strong.
No one could convince me to stop at this point.
Why I Love It:
I find I get bored easily, but with weights I have so much versatility I never get bored. Plus, I just love being strong and getting stronger. I'm amazed at how our bodies can adjust so quickly and what they are capable of. I've found it's the mind that gets in the way most of the time, limiting us.
I also use my training as a time to just get "lost". My days are so hectic, it's acutally something I look forward to.
How I Stay Motivated:
Seeing other's progress helps motivate me, as well as positive, energetic support. And, like everyone else, I'm motivated by results, and I'm seeing them, so onwards I go.

flabTOOfabchanged Overall Goal: "Goal weight 145! 9 lbs to go, 93 lbs down.

This picture was taken in Dec. 2005. I was 247lbs and just over 50% body fat! I hadn't discovered I enjoyed lifting yet, although being strong and having muscle was always comforting to me.
Goal weight 145! 9 lbs to go, 93 lbs down.
REALLY "compete" in my 2nd figure competition September 2010!
Goal (Long):
I've always been fond of strength and being above the average woman. I've always been active in some way, but managed to let my diet slip. Mainly because I had no one that knew any better to teach me the right and wrong things to choose. Now that I am aware of these things and learning I have faith I can be what I desire. My goal is by October 3, 2008 to be 18% body fat or very near with a desire to possibly compete in a figure. I would like to be the voice for many that this can be done if you dig deep and stick with it!
UPDATE: I'm learning that it's okay if it doesn't happen by my goal date. I'm still pushing forward and going for the same goal, I might just have to modify the date I set for myself.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 110 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
10%

Description: Deadlifts, video starts out on my 3rd set of 135 lbs, 4th set 255 lbs, and 5th set 210 lbs. Getting stronger and stronger, and leaner and leaner. :)
Hey peeps, no hard feelings, but I can't keep up with people honestly because I have so many "friends", so I will be purging the friends I don't keep in contact with, or vice versa. I'd like to be more supportive of people but it's hard when I can't find anyone or keep tabs on what's up,...
So so.. Recovering from a car accident from Feb 09 but a lot better. Still trying to get back in the swing of things. But seeing your progress is very uplifting to see and motivating :) SOooo whens you competing next? :D
OMG, it has been forever huh. My word woman you look damn good. Congrats on your first comp. All that dedication and hard work has paid off....I am very proud of you btw
