Overall Goal: BUSINESS BUILDING! Expanding my training business to include nutrition and nutritional healing. I'm excited about the new year and look forward to new levels of fitness that I can teach others to duplicate.
Fit Status:
Staying lean - about 13.6% bodyfat right now but need to work harder at keeping mass and strength up. But my focus is on business building!
I saw a picture of Rachel McLish and it was all over. That was about 21 years ago and I have to say that she inspired me enough to have caused me to change my life. Female Bodybuilding has changed, so now I do figure competitions.
Why I Love It:
It gives me a sense of control over my life when sometimes things seem out of control. :o)
How I Stay Motivated:
Through competing.
Knowing that, in a few weeks, I'll be on stage in front of an auditorium full of people, in front of a panel of judges & cameras wearing little more than a bikini & heels, is pretty motivating.
BB Accomplishments:
Taking 1st in the Over 35 class in the Vancouver Natural Classic 2005, the NPC Ironman 2005, and the Emerald Cup 2006 when I was age 54 & 55. And placing 3rd in the Open Class in the 2006 Vancouver Natural Classic. I made first call-out in the 2007 Master's Nationals and I was happy with that, even though I didn't place top 5. I will next time.

I have not had to work hard building biceps. For some reason they just grow & show because I don't carry much bodyfat on my upper body. But if I was to pick a favorite, it would be concentration curls. I love the isolation and full stretch to strong contraction feeling.

What tricep workout has worked best for you?
In the early days, I cut my teeth on the kickback. Now I really like the lying tricep pullover and the overhead cable extension.
Nothing fancy - just the basics and lifting really heavy. My favorite would be a calf press on a leg press machine. I like doing a leg press and then dropping my feet to the bottom of the plate to work my calves. It may mean pressing close to 300lbs, but it works.

I trained with my trainer today and beat another personal best. It was back day (my favorite) and I 1-arm rowed 60lb dumbbellsfor 2 sets of 5 after 1-arm rowing 50lb dumbbells for a set of 10. Worked on pullups too, and did better (those are so hard!)

Wow. You look amazing. You help me to know that even we grown ups can reach our fitness goals. And I'm so glad that I can still have older woman fantasies! I thought that part of my life was over. Congrats on the hard work and the success.
