I was pretty active in high school. I did field events for track & was also a cheerleader. We had mandatory workouts for both. I strayed from being active in college but always kept up some sort of activity even if half-hearted.
My weight was not a result of being lazy but rather binge eating to deal with the stress of my brother's death. It was how I coped. It continued for many years.
When I turned 30, I really started focusing on health & getting fit again. I worked with a trainer & started eating better.
In 2003, I joined Weight Watchers, started running & never turned back. I became a Lifetime member in September 2006...just 2 months after my Mom died.
I worked with Cathy Savage in 2007 & competed in 2 local figure shows in the Spring of 2008.
To date, I have completed the Chicago marathon twice, 4 half marathons & an assortment of other races ranging from 5K's to 10 milers.
I will never forget how far I've come & will never go back to that place again!
Why I Love It:
It makes me feel good & keeps me healthy! Who doesn't love challenging themselves & seeing how far you can go?!?
How I Stay Motivated:
My fiance & I train together. He definitely helps me stay focused & push hard! I also know that heart disease is hereditary & I'm motivated to not let it get the best of me!
BB Accomplishments:
Went from obese to running marathons to competing in figure.
