How I Started:
In 1988, I came out of the police academy at 160 lbs. 6 months later I was in street fight where the suspect body slammed me on the ground and nearly choked out the K-9 dog. The injury sustained from the fight, caused me to rethink my fitness needs. I begain lifting soon after that. Years later I was at 200lbs, with a lot of muscle mass. I never had to fight again, during my years on the streets.
Why I Love It:
Leaving the PD and I no longer play competitive sports, the gym has become my playing field. I strive to become more fit than people half my age. Working out has helped me with the daily stresses at the office.
How I Stay Motivated:
1. I keep a business card from a former vendor rep at my desk. This person was 37 years old, worked a stressful job, and didn't take care of himself. He had a massive heart attack and left a 6 year old son. I have a 7 year old son and I need to be alive for him.
2. I am a PTSD survivor.
BB Accomplishments:
Because my of my lack of exercise and eating habits in 1999, I was pushing 225 lbs. As of April/08, I am at 187.8 lbs. I went from a size 38 pants to a 32.
I've added core exercises to my routine and I can see the difference in my abs.

The fact is that there is NO WAY to the father except through his SON and furthermore,no works of righteousness will get you there! we could NEVER do enough to get into the gates of heaven! Squats & lunges just kick my butt every time even without weight added. It's nice to know I'm not alone!
If more women are doing lunges at your gym then the guys, I'd just suspect the women there are tougher! lol There is nothing femenine about anything that hurts that much!

Lol, but it's a good ouch, yes?! yup my calves are still tender, but glutton for punishment that I am, I'm determined to wear the new red heels I bought! Ok, so I'll be sore again tonight, but OH YES my legs look good in those heels! Haha!
thanks for writng about my blog. I don't like to take supplements to help lose weight. I'm basiclly doing through diet and exercise. I have to say, it's WORK but I love it!
Oh yes, my legs are sore! Still alittle shakey too! You're right, it's not about the speed. Like I tell my best friend and workout partner, its not about the destination, its about the journey! so enjoy it! Haven't gotten to running outside yet, think I'm still too self conscious. :-/
Oh yea the younger guys do keep me on my toes for sure !!! but I get more inspired seeing the older and my age showing the youngens what is all about -LOL... Yes i get very cometive with myself in the gym some days to a fault!
Leg day for me today. One of my fav's cause they need it most! Added more weight to the leg press, leg extension and pilate squats. YaY! How was your run?
