Producing muscle gains never comes easy. Performing an arbitrary number of repetitions may produce some results, but never along the same order is pushing your muscles to 100% failure. Growth literally must be forced!
Consuming fats doesn't make you fat. Consuming calories beyond your maintenance and growth requirements makes you fat. Fats and cholesterol are essential in the production of all hormones- including hormones that support muscle gain and fat loss.
Just as long as you consume fewer calories than what are required to sustain your metabolic - and energy requirements- you will lose fat.
In order for a work-out to be productive, it must be productive. That means you must be increasing in your weights- your reps- or both- every single workout.
