How I Started:
I got started because I was told by a lot of peers and coaches that I have a lot of natural atheletic ability during my childhood. I began seriously working out hard in 1997 after I sustained a knee injury in football. During physical therapy rehab, my PT informed me with the many ways to improve my athletic abilities. I did as he suggested and I started to swell up. And I got hooked, it was like a drug, addiction if you will.
Why I Love It:
I am a graduate of an accredited college in Exercise Science, I am certified as a Personal Trainer through the NASM, called the CSCS (certified strength and conditioning specialist). I practice what I preech, and in my 12 years of lifting experience I am very confident in what I do in the gym on a daily basis. More importantly, I love working out because of self-competition!
How I Stay Motivated:
Journaling! A huge part of bodybuilding. I look back and see how I have progressed with my numbers and pictures. Also, the other 22 hours a day that I am out of the gym I am proud of my body and that along with some other intangible factors, increases my self esteem and confidence in my self.

Down to 199 lbs with about 9% BF. Getting there!!

How many reps per set do you usually do? Why?
Depends on the muscle. Big fast twitch muscles, 5-12 reps. Small slow twitch muscles, 15-25 reps.

Yeah dude, I hear ya. The wellness center has so many New Year's Resolution people and Spring Break beach body types it makes me sick. I have found a new obsession outside of the gym, they call it Rockband. Anytime you want to hang out I'm just a call away. On an unrelated subject I applied at Pracs recently, you should tell the big wigs to hire me ;-)

I will for sure look for you. I don't have any plans to compete. Maybe some day down the road, I'm trying to slowly bulk up this winter and not put on to much fat. Kind of a New Years goal. Good luck getting ready for the comp. in March. Are there alot of guys from the sports center that compete?

shoot broham I went back to the Wellness center this fall...needed a change and people aren't very friendly at the Y (or so it seems). Congrats on the job dude that's good to hear.
