I used to lift pretty hard in High school and learned how to lift for strength there. In high school I was a squating champion, but my upper body didn't do so well. My goal in high school senior year was to gain to 200 lb.
After 4 years in the army, and many years later of too many beers and working with my face in a computer monitor, I'm now 265 lbs. I'm sick of it and want to get cut again, so my goal is to get skinny and in shape again and look great.
Why I Love It:
Use it or lose it. I haven't been using it, and have lost it, so it's time to get it back.
Working out is really a great habit to get into for your whole life, my approach to lifting this time is vastly different then in the past where I would just look for short term gains. Also, now I am eating allot better and have given up some other bad habits, like drinking beer and tobacco and caffiene as well.
How I Stay Motivated:
Now for me it's a matter of forming a habit where I won't dread working out, I dread a day that I miss a work out.
BB Accomplishments:
The only accomplishment I have is in high school strength training I parallel squated a set of 2x 505 lb. At the lift competition the next week I planned on getting 525 or 535 but failed. Let just say that I learned that going golfing 18 holes isn't exactly the relaxing sort of activity you should do on a day like that.
