I saw the bodybuilders of the 80s and fell in love with muscles but not overly large muscles. I love Gladys Portugues' physique from the 80s. I recently incorporated the diet aspect of competition for figure shows. I have worked out with weights for the past 22 years but just have not been competitive until recently in 2004.
Why I Love It:
You can totally transform your body into beautiful curves!
I love feeling strong physically and mentally.
Pumping iron is a huge stress reliever and relaxant.
How I Stay Motivated:
I don't want to be overweight. I was for awhile and became very depressed and did not have a good self-image of myself which in turn affected my self esteem.
I also just love competing and now that I can make a little bit of money as a Pro along with transforming my body...well those are great motivators!
BB Accomplishments:
Earned my WNBF Pro Card in May 2006 and my NGA Pro Card in 2005.
I am also a Natural Bodybuilding & Figure Judge.

This is the day that I decided to compete again. Wow...I was quite bad! I do not miss that type of conditioning at all. I weighed 134 lbs with I don't want to know bodyfat %! See, I have binged and drank more than one glass of wine a few times a week sometimes too! I just lost focus, did not...
I lost 29 lbs, weighed 105 lbs and 7% bodyfat. Much happier now. Unfortunately staying this lean is not very
realistic. I will soon be back at 115 lbs and maintaining this weight. I always ate healthly during my life...see, my stepmom was always on a "diet" which actually turned out good for...
What is your favorite "healthy" dessert? Give the recipe if applicable.
Frozen bluberries, strawberries and cranberries mixed together. Or a yummy health bar. If I am being naughty, then dark chocolate but the sugar free kind if in competition mode.

Do you tell your friends and/or family about your fitness goals?
The hardest part I think for someone to figure out is "How many calories do I need to consume through the course of a day in order to lose 1-2 lbs/wk"?
We are each unique physically (metabolism) and there are probably hundreds if not thousands of factors that play role in...
I am actually in the offseason now. I will not compete again until the exact same show next year. My primary focus is adding lean mass, and taking home the Pro card next time around...
When is your next comp?
"embrace whatever comes my way" I see stated in your profile.
Now that's a promise I would like you to remember .. right now ;))
Sure you'll do well at the Pro Figure's.
Paul.

Hey Colleen, you looked AWESOME at the show. Congrats on your WIN.
Was great to meet you as well....
I think the only problem the judges had was who got and 2nd, and 3rd. It was obvious that you were 1st...
Yeah 55 miles was a hard ride and I am soo proud of myself I was able to finish it. I trained for months and was very strict on my diet. I am able to maintain my energy and feel soo good. I am going to bulk this Summer because I lost all the fat layers around my abs and obliques with the 55 miles bicycle ride; so now am ready to add muscle to my frame. You look great on youtube in competition. Miss you and want you to come back to work with us. Soon I hope.
Its winter down here and quite cold-you are so lucky to be in the sun,I could definitely do with some of that! :) I'm just in the midst of studying for my ACSM PT cert so I hope to get that done by the end of the year...training is good,I'm doing less in the gym and more speed agility work these days :)
Thanx, Colleen! :) I'm fine... just recovering from my hernia and shoulder injuries.
I see you appear to be well :) ...looking cozy!
How go'z it?
:David
I rode 55 miles on Saturday and was soo sore on Sunday I did not even attempt day two on the bicycle. I am back to lifting weights progressively and miminum cardio so I am able to keep my gains at Gold's Gym. I need help with diet and training though and you are a master at that.
