First gym I joined was Mr. America in Farmingdale NY. LOT of huge guys there, especially owner Andrew Severt (competed against Shawn Ray before he turned pro). Second gym was Ken's Nautilus across the street from Mr. America's (they shut down). Lot of powerlifters there. Asked a truckload of questions to pro bodybuilders and powerlifters, giving me the knowledge I have today.
Why I Love It:
It gives me a sense of accomplishment; I've always been one to push myself to the limit physically and mentally. I was a hairline from joining the Marines when I was 19 because of my desire, biggest mistake was not joining.
How I Stay Motivated:
Lost my motivation over the years, got comfortable and slowly but surely the fire went ALMOST out. Now, my wife, 2 sons and 1 daughter are my inspiration to get healthier (have a clean physical record but doc says I need to drop weight). After getting to a good weight again, want to compete again!!
BB Accomplishments:
1991 ANPPC Eastern USA Bodybuilding Championships: 5th place (out of 14) in middleweight class after only 9 months of training.
1993 ANPPC Eastern USA bodybuilding championships: 3rd place out of 10 in light heavyweight class.
Drop 35 lbs of bodyfat and preserve as much lean muscle mass as possible.
Goal (Long):
Bev Francis took a caliper test on me back in 2004, says my LBM (at 5% BF) is @ 245lbs. Hard to believe for an all natural guy, but I want to put this to the test. Trying to get my motivation back, shake off this fat laziness and start getting hardcore again!! I miss that feeling!
Hey there! hope you had a great weekend! How's your progress coming along? This week's been good for me, gained 5lbs of lean mass lost 2 pounds of fat, so I'm happy. Hope you're doing great too!
