When I Started:
Jun, 2004
How I Started:
A buddy of mine (Thanks Eddie!) got me and a couple of our friends into lifting and educated me a bit and then I started reaching out for knowledge and learning how to better myself further. I still miss working out with those guys. =)
Why I Love It:
I think it has got to be the inner peace I feel afterwards. When I go too long without working out, I get easily annoyed, somewhat ill tempered and feel unsettled. After working out I am relaxed, calm and I feel a certain sense of accomplishment. Plus who wants to be the fat guy that breathes loud when he walks 5 steps?
How I Stay Motivated:
I am a member/moderator of several forums, read magazines somewhat often, talk to my bodybuilding friends occasionally and lastly and most important, look at myself naked in the mirror once a day. That is the best way to get yourself to focus. ;oP
BB Accomplishments:
In less then a year when I first started I dropped 8% body fat. That may not sound like much, but it made quite a bit of difference for me. Since then I have maintained that drop.

I am also proud that I am now back in the gym, dedicated to busting my hump and making a better me through the pain and perseverance of bodybuilding.

Goals:
Main Goal:
Transform My Body
Goal (Overall):
I plan on dropping some LB's and getting stronger then ever!
Goal (Long):
I am not looking to win any competitions or anything like that. I just want to be strong for my wife and daughter and to stay healthy and be in good enough shape to do anything I want at a moments notice. I like it when the sleeves of my shirt do not fit anymore and push up all on their own. =) I plan to reach the following goals: Weight: 280-290lbs. BF: 8-9% or less Biceps: 21" Forearms: 16" Waist: 38-39" Chest: 60-62" Calves: 21-22" In addition I want to be able to run at 10miles/hr on the treadmill for ten minutes straight without passing out. =) I am giving myself 3 years to reach these goals from where I currently am. It is going to be a long, hard road and I know it, which only serves to make me more determined.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 110 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
9%

What are your personal NON-FITNESS life goals?
Keep learning and always enjoy everything while I still can. Life is too short to get stupid and waste it by doing nothing and failing to appreciate how marvelous everything and everyone is. I thank...more

Do you have a significant other?
Yes
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped or hurt your relationship?
I think I encourage her...I hope I do. So far it has been all positive. She is supportive of me going and wants me to be healthy too.

Other than the obvious benefits (appearance, health, etc.), how has bodybuilding and fitness improved your overall life?
It has helped me be aware of health issues and how to eat right (and pass it on to my daughter too), how to exercise efficiently to reach goals. That kind of knowledge spills over into other arenas a...more

I am back at the gym now and am weighing with all my clothes/shoes and everything on.  So the weight went up but actually, not really (was just weighing in the boxer shorts only).  I got a new gym and it is 24/7, so I have been in heaven.  I am still in the figure out where I am at stage...

If there's one thing I know about my homey, it's that he'll accomplish his goals. Once he gets his eyes set on a target, the target usually gets obliterated. -Justin

Congrats on your decision and for taking the hardest step of all, saying "I plan on dropping some LB's." If there is anything that I can do to be of assistance feel free to contact me as we can all use an extra person or two in our corner.
