What happens? It felt like in the span of a week I was "fat!" how in the world did I ever let myself go? Was it the depression after the birth of my first child? Or did it start because I had to quit working before her birth? Whatever the reason, before I knew it, I was no longer in my eight jeans, and in a 14. Then I was pregnant again. This one was gonna change! I was 200lbs and 5'7" and I was tired of feeling run down all the time! During my pregnancy I tried to make healthy choices and kept the weight down not gaining any extra. But that all changed after the birth of my 2nd. My sister in law had come to visit me and her boyfriend make a comment to me that your so beautiful.. you just need to lose weight. Other family members were saying the same thing. It hurt. So I first heard about the body for life program in 2000, and i was gonna do it!! I had to do it! I tried to just work out at home, but I needed the motivation of the gym. I went and signed up at a gym in my old state, and I wont say that everyday was a challenge! I saw beautiful women with hard as rock bodies and they were not tooth pick skinny!! thus came my love for muscles!! I went every day but Wed. and Sunday to the gym. Stuck to the BFL diet. but the pounds were not coming off! Finally I found my magic combination! More cardio to burn the fat. Of course, I still kept up the weight training everyday as well as cardio! Finally after 2 years the weight just literally melted off in about 3 months. I lost it fast. Leaving me with lose skin I had to tone. Now I have a huge love for bodybuilding and weight training but it came with a price and a back injury while lifting improperly. I want to stay away from surgery, so I am doing everything to strengthen my body, but I have some areas that need target work! I.E. My lower body tends to get put on the back burner because of the injury.
Why I Love It:
I love working out because in the gym with my headphones on, no one can touch me! Not the daily stresses of my business, home, or the three children! I am untouchable! When I have changed my body, I feel like I can do anything! Not everyone has the willpower to get to the gym and "just do it," but I do. That alone is worth more than a million bucks!!
How I Stay Motivated:
Motivation is a hard thing! I am a mother of three, and I own and operate 2 businesses. I just moved literally from the west coast to the east coast, and that alone is so hard to adjust! Motivation here on the east coast is easier because the city I live in is one of the most unhealthy ones that I know. and I don't want to become one of the masses (sorry fellow WNY!!) But it is also a great motivator! The food here is so heavy and greasy, so eating healthy and at home is so much easier. My joints ache from my injury, and when I workout.. I feel so much better. Also, its a great stress reliever! HELLO!! When your mad.... Go workout!
BB Accomplishments:
I think losing 75 pounds without surgery and keeping it off for over 6 years goes to show you that if you have the patience to just eat right, and work out, you can not only learn life altering habits... but you dont have to go through evasive surgical procedures that only help you lose weight, but they dont teach you to eat properly and change the habits that got you there in the first place. I am down from a size 14, to a four. have been for a year. before that in 6 until I got pregnant again and guess what... Didn't really have baby weight to lose just needed to tone....
