Because its a combination of science and art...
Art: I see my body as a sculpture in the making. In the winter I put on some more clay and in the summer I sculpt it.
Science: knowledge about nutrition, recovery, hypertrophy and strength training will help me achieve a
more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing sculpture.

What he have achived naturaly just keep me motivated. He is the reason why I stay away from performance enhancing drug ! Thanks you Layne for everything you bring to that sport!
I don't take protein shakes but I do have a high protein low fat diet. So my protein intake is pretty high any way without the shakes (not that I have anything against them I just do what has worked for me)
Thanks bro, got some solid abs there, great work. Check my 2nd blog for my diet and ab routine. I will be posting my weight training routine soon. Take care.
Hey man -- sorry for the delayed response. I Haven't been on here in a LONG time. And THANKS for the compliments. And thanks for recognizing how my work is impacted by my staying natural! By the way, try to listen to my new podcast, The Big Inside. New episodes every week at www.thebiginside.com, and also in the iTunes Store for free. Let me know what you think! Thanks again, man!
I'll take that as a compliment! I've been training for over 26 yrs now. This year was my 25th competing. The longest layoff I've ever had was for 6 weeks. I eat pretty clean even in the off-season and I have my contest preparations really dialed in after all these years.
hey man, thanks for the comments. these pics are old and I weighed a little bit under 200lbs. i am 18 now, and will take updated pics soon. right now im in the high 190s if not over 200lbs for sure
To be honest, the guy who taught me a little Thai Boxing (as well as a lesson in humility!) would say that I lift my knee higher than necessary. As for my diet, since you asked, you can have a look at http://www.sicart.info/friends /budoka_diet.pdf (just keep in mind that it is now outdated, notably the prices).
