Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon; August 24, 2008. 1.5 mile swim, 2 mile run, 13 mile bike, 10k run...Sounds like a nice warm-up :). I want to finish high in my age group. Working my butt off to add power to my legs for the hills out in san fran. Any tips on leg power/endurance would be appreciated. Haven't felt pride since I was in the Marine Corps. I'm putting everything I have into training for this race. I hope finishing and being competitive will establish the sense of self accomplishment I'm looking for.
What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
Swimming, because it works the whole body.

What is your cardio exercise plan?
I'm a triathlete so I swim bike and run 3x per week. During a 4 week period I usually pick one event to focus on and will add extra sessions. Right now I'm running 4-5 days a week, to improve my run segment.I'm a triathlete so I swim bike and run 3x per week. Do you monitor your heart rate while doing cardio?
Yes
Do you use a heart rate monitor? Which one?
Sometimes; don't know what kind it is though. I usually just take in periodically so I know how my body is responding.
What heart rate do you aim for while doing cardio? Why?
Depends on the type of workout I'm doing. Easy days I stay around 140, med--160 and Hard interval days I'll jump to 180-190 during the hard sets.
Why is it that beautiful women will come on this site; compliment me, tell me I look great, tell me I'm a sweet guy.....and yet, in real life; I simply say hi to an attractive woman and she rolls her eyes at me. Whats up with that shit? It's so damn hard to find someone with common interests...
Hey, saw you were a swimmer and thought I'd share. It's a dryland technique called a swimmers' plank. It's like a normal plank but you lift a foot off the ground and simulate kicking while the opposite hand is also in the air in front of you. I just made my first video tutorial on my page.
Hi babe! I am OK. Just OK, but getting better knowing that this week I get to start some light cardio.. damn hand. Injuries are so debilitating...
:( That tri- sounds awesome, its like a speed race hey- really quite tough, and like a good race to watch.. keep me posted will you?
well, I've been ok, but this week played hell on me. night classes after work from 6-10pm and over an hour drive away from home. ughh, went running tonight 7 miles and didn't feel to well, but am excited about sometime tomorrow. If it's raining i'll probably go swimming. Sweet pikes peak pictures, incredible. What did you do there? climb it?
My runs were excellent this week! Every other day runs are working for me... I have my eye on a half marathon coming up, but we'll see. How have you been doing?
hey Johno, how is your shoulder this evening? Hope you can still compete in the tri coming up!! What are the distances I wonder? Cheers for now :) SA x
no, I didn't get a chance to get a swim in this weekend, I only completed 2 indoor bike workouts and some raquet ball. The next 2 weeks are not going to be good for swimming either because I'm taking emissions courses from 6-10pm after work. So I'm gonna be lucky to squeeze some runs in at lunchtime. And a swim and lift on my weekends.
Going good, slept in today and hope to run tomorrow... glad to hear your shoulder's getting better, though! Missing a weekend of swim isn't so bad - let it heal :)
