In 1989 I joined a health club to help me lose some weight (about 10 lbs), and was introduced to Nautilus machines. I LOVED IT! I loved the results. Over the years I've drifted away from it, gained some, had a few kids, had some "life happens" etc. I was terribly stretched out from my last two pregnancies, my muscles wouldn't "go back" no matter what I did. I was fortunate enough to be able to get a hernia repair and tummy tuck surgery, but I was still 34 lbs overweight and not in shape at all! In Feb of 2005 I started taking Tae Kwon-Do, and immediately lost 7 lbs. And it helped my mind SO MUCH! (I was in a bad, baaad, marriage). I got a part-time job, then I got separated, then divorced. I couldn't afford an apartment and TKD, so I had to quit. Then I met Dave (insert Angels singing here). After we had been seeing each other for about 8 or 9 mos, I told him I was tired of not exercising, and wanted to do something. He had been lifting using free weights, so he showed me how. Then I found Tom Venuto's book "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" and changed my eating habits around. In April of 2007 I decided to start this bodyspace page.
Why I Love It:
I naturally have a muscular build. Weight lifting is a logical choice for me. And now that I've learned to get up early for cardio, I love the feeling I get all day long, and all the energy! Eating right definitely makes me feel better, too. It is so true, you are what you eat!!
How I Stay Motivated:
Seeing results, as in progress pictures, measuring and discovering inches lost, and my clothing fitting better all keep me going! I have several outfits that are waiting on me to fit into them. Comments from friends/co-workers "you look slimmer" or "ooh, those are new pants, aren't they" definitely help, too! And everyone here on bodyspace is an excellent source of motivation, too! Dave has never said a mean thing to me about my body/weight, and he keeps me motivated in Oh So Many Ways... ;)
BB Accomplishments:
So far, just sticking with it! I've lost 16 lbs so far. And this SO NOT a morning person has learned to like getting up at 5:30 AM to workout!!

I have found that if I give it an honest try, I can do it.

Going to California in September with my honeybunch - MUST look good - his ex-wife lives there... need I say more!!
Goal (Long):
Ok, what I really want is to look good naked. Right?
I want to weigh 138 lbs, have an 18-20% bodyfat percentage, and to have people stop asking me if I'm pregnant.
I'm sick of seeing myself overweight!! I have never been overweight, and I refuse to start now!! My four pregnancies have left me stretched, and I'm sick of people asking me if I'm pregnant. I want to look good in anything I wear, and be able to wear anything I want. I would like to have muscles, but I don't need to be ripped. I want to look strong, healthy, fit and sexy! I don't look my age now, and I really want to blow people away when they find out how old I am when I look so good! HAH!
I have never liked working this muscle, and I've never done any exercises that made me FEEL them. Until now - I do bench dips (on the floor using my weight bench), stationary lunges with a backwards tricep press, reverse tricep presses (behind my head) on the body ball, and cross face tricep extensions. What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
I have two clients in there who worked out for about a month then haven't been back. They themselves call it the fat lady class so we will see how much I motivate them to do more than read about weight loss.
It went great!. Did a fifteen minute "about me" thing showing a very large version of "the fat me" picture and told how I lost the first 43lbs just by eating right and the last 15 by working out cutting 8% body fat. Gave them a list of clean foods. They were shocked I don't count calories. Got lots of questions - the class was very interactive.
Next week we are going to a gym to learn a beginner's full body workout.
well down to 236 only 16 more pound to go. workout are great just change things up 5 set 4 for heavy weight and 1 for rep seem to be paying off. going to see what happen i a month
