When I Started:
Jul, 2008
How I Started:
I want to feel healthy and alive, as well as look good. Been lifting weights on and off since high school.
Why I Love It:
Late Sept 09: Been working out/eating right for two weeks and it's actually working! Crazy.... ;)
September 2009: Need to get back on the wagon!
July 2008: One day I hope I can say that I'm proud I had the discipline to keep doing something good for myself.
How I Stay Motivated:
April 2009: Like I said, I NEED it to keep my head on straight, but
it's also seeing what happens to people who don't take care of themselves (diabetes, cardiac issues, etc.) that motivates me. And, of course, the idea that I could one day have an ass like Ava Cowan. ;)
July 2008: I am trying to take it one day at a time and be gentle with myself. I need to remember that it's a slow process and it'll take time. Looking at the photos/reading the stories of people who have radically changed their lifestyles is always very inspiring!

How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you in your career?
Only in that it's helped me stay sane when working in an utterly dysfunctional work environment ;)

Do you have a significant other?
Yes
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped or hurt your relationship?
My wonderful fiance has always been very into fitness/lifting, and he sets a great example for me in terms of modeling good diet and exercise. He both encourages me to work out, but also to eat a little pizza sometimes...it really is all about balance in all things. I know that when I've been to the gym I am much more clear-headed and am able to be more loving and available to him, so in that sense it's great for the relationship. My wonderful fiance has always been very into fitness/lifting, and he sets a great example for me in terms of modeling good diet and exercise. What are your secrets for making healthy food taste great?
This I am actually pretty good at. I've maintained a decent appearance (in clothes) for many years by eating well (except for the late night chip-a-thons, see above). I like to use I Can't Believe it's Not Butter spray on everything, and put tons of black pepper on everything. Roasting veggies in the oven (particularly mushrooms) is a great way to bring out flavor. This I am actually pretty good at. I work in health care, and every day I'm in the hospital I see things that never should have happened...I'm new to it, but I'd estimate that 75% of conditions I've seen there could have been prevented. It's all about the little everyday choices we make, the results of which accumulate...
You're doing a great job! Don't stop! Don't ever stop!! I took a 5 week break and OMG am I paying for it! :) Hope you're doing great! Have a fun and Happy Halloween!
haha... dont worry about the gun show!! I know you can do better next time!! Like YOU said, You gotta flex it like you MEAN IT!! Thanks for mentioning the wifey...You being a RN would know, and you're right...Its tough taking care of the household...I have a new found respect for housewives..I dont know HOW THEY do it all!!!!
Thank you, I appreciate that you accepted my friend invite. Much success to you in accomplishing all your life and fitness goals. Take care and have a great day.
That's awesome! I've had that happen to me quite a few times. Sometimes you're just having one of those days where you just feel like your dragging... you get in the gym and something just takes over... a lot of times it's the nitric oxide for me. lol, but whatever works! :) Hope you're doing great!
Great job on the weight loss. I am doing the same thing, not eating starches at night. So fat in 5 days I am down 7.8 pounds, so no I don't think it is too fast! Keep up the great work! :-)
