How I Started:
I actually started lifting weights in high school for sports enhancement. As school went on I never really took it serious, more of just a hobby or something to do to kill time. Over the years I would be off and on the weights depending on the necessity of what I was trying to accompish. Now that the big 4-0 is on the way and I was looking in the mirror and didn't like what I saw. I decided that it was time to take my health and the way I look and maximize what I could do with the knowledge I have and the weights combined.
Why I Love It:
Now that I have been actually concentrating on the weights and the workouts I find that I have more energy and the workouts usually keep me in a better mood. It must have something to do with all the extra endorphins that are given off after a good hard workout.
How I Stay Motivated:
My motivaion is simple: I have a goal, I must maintain that goal and therefore I can achieve that goal.

Goal (Long):
I have been chunky since I was a little kid but always active in sports. Now that my 40th birthday is moving toward me, I have become more motivated than ever to thin down and achieve an abdomen that screams look at me. What I see in the mirror now is disgusting and I don't like. So this is my year to make a total transformation of me. My goal is to be 185-190lbs with 8-10% bodyfat.

Nice progress you got going. I also was 230 pounds but it took me about a 15 months to drop the weight. Now I am having a hard time gaining weight (Muscle that is) Keep up the dedication bro, you will do it!
