I've always been an athlete of some kind, and when I went off to college, I got lazy and complacent. I packed on a good 60 lbs in 3 years, and finally decided one day that I had had enough.
Dropped from 240 to 190 (with some help from my Drill Sergeants) over the course of 2 years.
Why I Love It:
Self-hate can be a strong motivator. But after about a year of using that to get my ass to the gym, I started to realize that I actually enjoyed the changes I was seeing. Now I do it because I love just destroying my body in the gym. Nothing beats an extreme workout...well, almost nothing :)

RIP to all my buddies that didn't make it home and the ones we lost after we made it back. Live Infantry, Die Infantry.

I don't even think I need to say why, but I will.
Dude is 55 and jacked. And it's not like he was born that way. Look at the before and after pictures.
I hope that when I get his age, I look at least a little bit as good as he does. Awesome work!
When I think to myself, "I want to be HUGE" this is the kind of build that is closest to what I'm picturing.
I refuse to let myself be beaten by others. I always want to be the best at everything. And when I see a 53 year old guy looking HUGE, it makes me try all that much harder. (lol)
What celebrity body would you most like to have? Why?
Probably Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, maybe a little bigger though. He's fairly proportional though, as far as celebs go.

How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
With me only doing 5 reps, I keep the rests short (less than 1 minute, sometimes closer to 30 seconds). Short sets, short recovery.

How many reps per set do you usually do? Why?
Lately, I've been doing the whole 5x5 workout, and it's tearing me up (in a good way). I think I'll stick with it for a while. The whole "sets of 10" wasn't really working for me.
Just thought I'd update for anybody who cares to know. I got back from Afghanistan about a week and a half ago, and I am LOVING the USA. Spending way too much money, seeing women in shorts instead of burqas, having a car, and all those other things that people take for granted.
I did the whole 5x5 thing for about a year, and now I've modified it a bit. 4 sets of 6 on most exercises (4 sets of 12 for calves and abs, or any other minor isolation work). Most of my cardio is done during PT in the mornings, so I don't include that here. 6 days of lifting per week with a 3...

I was at Bagram with the USAF in 2005, which pales in compairison to what you are doing. So please except my gratitude and continued support of you and all your teammates. Stay Safe and get those Talib f**kers MSGT USAF Retired
lol I was in Gardez Afghanistan June 06 to 07 and the rule of thumb was get it when you can. I know it's hard over there but remember that home is on the other side and be happy you aren't just starting the tour! haha! My favorite arms routine aside from traditional bars and weights were sandbag drills. Curl them using pyramids and then do overhead extensions with them. If it doesn't work get em wet!
