How I Started:
I started back in the Marines(OOH RAH!). I got a little side tracked after I got out, but i did continue to do some kind of workout. Decided in 2004 to get back on track. Then I broke my wrist in 2005, and injured my shoulder in early 2006. Now I'm fully recovered and loving it!
Why I Love It:
It's a great stress reliever for me. Being in law enforcement, I love getting off duty and heading to the gym.
How I Stay Motivated:
I like looking at my physique change week by week, month by month year by year. When I started I weighed 175 Lbs. Now that I'm 200Lbs, I can really see the difference. Plus there are guys at my gym that are just as dedicated. Seeing them bust there humps gets me going, too.

Goal (Long):
I need bigger calves. They're coming along, but slowly. I wear shorts in the gym most of the time, just for motivation. I also need more thigh sweep. I think everything else is coming along ok.
I notice we as guys get embarrassed really quick, when a weight gets the best of us.I guess it's an ego thing. I was in the gym today and a guy that hadn't been there in a while asked if he could join me and my partner in a chest workout. Since we do get pretty intense, we didn't...
If your training partners are still talking trash about wanting to crank it up until the winner, then in the winter they're going to be talking trash because you're too far ahead of them.

I actually went to an amateur strongman competition and that lit a fire under my ass as well. I've always accepted being a "weakling", but hell, thats no excuse to not bust my ass. :-)
And this shit has me doing cardio, like crazy. Then again, being a makeshift personal trainer kinda motivates you too. Especially when your clients are making progress right before your eyes.
Man, work schedule changes are such a pain in the rear. They're a good way to get rid of training partners too. Eh, its good to see that you're not letting that slow you down. I have before and it stinks. You get all ... out of shape and the next thing you know, you're deserting them.
He he, never again. Keep it up though.
Yeah, I'm alive. I'm back too ... doing a silly training routine as opposed to my old one. Not that I think I exhausted the only one, but I felt like doing something entertaining.

If you can see it in the mirror, then who cares what the scale says. Like I tell my girl, its not what the scale says but how you look and feel. There have been times when I wanted to frizbee my scale out the window, but I have learned to not care so much about what the scale says and focus more on the look.
