What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
Tried using too much weight and sloppy form w/ lots of "body english".

What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
FORM IS EVERYTHING. Leave the heaving and momentum to the roid bois. If you lift only with the muscle(s) you are targeting, you will make much better, long-term progress.

I totally agree with you yakabebe is probably the best over 50s on this site and I would give him a 10+ but giving a 10 to less fortunately built mere mortals can also go towards their motivation dedication and eventually better outcome
Wow!! Thanx for those comments. I never think my efforts are out there to "inspire" anyone but I guess at 59 alot of guys are gonna want to try and learn what I've done.
Not a whole lot of secrtet there...nothing that hard work, sacrifice and commitment wont get ya!!!
