My dad died a year and a half ago and I ate anything and everything. Last fall I realized I couldn't go on like that and I started to eat less and made an effort to work out harder and more consistently. Since then I have lost 40 pounds. I have discovered that I have some muscles under all that fat, go figure. Losing the weight and all the comments help me to keep going.
Why I Love It:
I have been overweight most of my life and have hated it. It makes me feel good about myself and helps me stay focused. One of the things I have realized is that I really like working out. It relieves stress and has help me stay out of depression. Now that I have lost weight my cardio work out is much easier and I am noticing changes in my body. IT JUST FEELS GOOD!
How I Stay Motivated:
The motivation comes from the changes I see and feel as I become healthier. The comments and words of encouragement from others also really helps. Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to be a part of my support team! I stay motivated by seeing the transformation of my body. I am getting the body I have always wanted. That gets me excited!

I am so glad summer is here. this last year I had one of the hardest groups of kids in my class. I am worn out. It has been really rough. The gym is my reward and my de-stress time, but I have been very inconsistent because of my kids baseball. Games and practices and pick up and...

what do you teach?
stay focused, have a great weekend
Every time I work out I ask myself "why am I doing this?" Because it is hard. Ocasionally, not often, I'm asked, "do you work out?" When I'm asked that it is worth all the effort. I know then the hard work is showing. We might as well stay at it. What else we gonna do?
Hey Dennis, just hang in there bud. You're doing great. Your changes and improvements will come in different ways and at different rates as you progress. Pick a simple, measureable goal and conquer it. Building a succession of achieved, incremental goals will give you the momentum you are looking for. Let me know if you want some ideas.
Feeling stuck?...we've all been there man, I assure you. Change things up. If you're lifting heavy/low reps do a temporary switch to lighter weight/higher reps. If lifting light, then change up to a very hard pyramid/lower rep workout. Just be careful and don't cause an injury. Take care, you're doing great.
