How I Started:
I began running, on the advice of a friend.
db: "I'm not a runner".
Farley: "Everyone can run. Just leave your house and run at a slow pace for 30 minutes".
db: "ok".
Why I Love It:
Cuz I love looking at myself in the mirror. Vain, but isn't that not true of us all?
How I Stay Motivated:
um... looking at myself in the mirror...
BB Accomplishments:
To have that "model" upper body; large chest and shoulders, with nice sized arms and back as well.
I've never been outta shape before in my life... until these last 10 years have caught up to me. I could blame it on marriage or kids, but it's my late night snacks and the lack of any exercise that's done me in. In the 90's I did compete in Tae Kwon Do tournaments at 174 pounds. But at 210+ it's been rather humbling realizing that I look like a "pear".
In September of '06 I'd had enough. I started running. At first I ran for a time of 30 minutes, which turned out to be two miles. 2 months later I run 3.5 miles in 33 minutes, and the "pear" shape is gone needless to say. However it is still waiting to come back if I fall of the horse!
I've also been lifting in my home gym. Now that I've have a bit of tone I've changed my focus to getting a bit more upper body mass. You could say I've got the "bug" for lifting. In fact I've become a bit addicted to the results. I'm hoping to gain 5+ pounds of muslce by spring, but I don't yet know how much I should be gaining per month. More to come as my knowledge increase, along with my size! :)
