"I am still gaining my strength back from 6 months of chemo. Chemo took it's toll on my body. My goal is to get down to 10-11% bodyfat by the end of the summer and then start training for size for a show next Spring."

When I Started:
How I Started:
I have been strength training since my early years in athletics. Then became more serious in college while playing football. My goal has always been to compete on stage. Just in the last 2 years I did my first show. I won the Novice Tall class at the Iowa Natural show in Des Moines - '06. I have worked to add a little size in the last 12 months and will be doing the Iowa Natural Open and Sub master division '07 - 5th in Iowa Tall - 3rd in submasters (over 35).
Why I Love It:
I thrive on pushing myself to get bigger and stronger. Runner's talk about the high they get when their training, I feel the same way in the gym after a good pump!
How I Stay Motivated:
Hearing stories from other cancer survivors. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s cancer in Sept '07 after a summer of losing weight and always feeling wore down. My doctor said it was very likely I had cancer for 12-18 months, which would mean I had cancer during my natural BB competitions last spring and in ’06. After 6 months of chemo kicking my ass, my Oncologist told me in early April ('08)I was in remission. My goal is to get in good enough shape by this summer to take off my shirt and not be too embarrassed. I am currently 205 lbs with a body fat of 18- 21% and as weak as I have been in years.
BB Accomplishments:
05/2006 - Natural Iowa
First in Novice Tall Class
05/2007 - Natural Iowa
Third in Submasters (35-44)
Fifth in Iowa Tall Open Class

Goal (Long):
My long term goal is to get my Pro card for Masters, 40 and over. I will be 39 in September. My goal is to have enough size and come in around 4-5% bodyfat to be a serious threat to win a pro card.
