Gain muscle and lose fat , pretty much my main goal, long term goal is to compete in the 50 and up class.
Goal (Long):
I am doing this basically by myself , my goals are simple (theoretically)
1.Join the gym, follow a bodybuilders diet, READ READ AND READ some more bodybuilding mags and listen to expert advise (obviously).
2. Chart my advances through constant updating of records and pictures.
3. Keep Supplementation experimenting documentation and gains records so as to determine which one's work for me and one's that don't.
Let's face it, after you reach the "over 40 mark" things get a little different than when you where in your 20's , this too I have to take into account and read more advice geared twards what works better for older men etc.
My main motivation for this is just plain health issues and related to me one day just looking in the mirror and saying this is ENOUGH! I couldn't breath while I bending over to tie my shoes, I could not walk a city block without having to stop because my back was hurting so bad, being over 300 lbs really put a hampering on more than a few things in my life.At that point is when I decided to make a change and get back to the gym and finish what i started.
This is to be a new beginning for me, my motivation is at 100%, I know the road isn't paved with gold and the path a steep one but I am confident I will be where I want to be come one to 1.5 yrs from now.
First off I want to drop 40 lbs, then
I want to maintain pretty much a 260 lb weight, as I work out and feed my muscles while I replace the fat with lean mass.
My goal is to compete before my 50th birthday.
Before that time (contest time)I will then concentrate on ripping up to a weight that will show off my 8-9 years of hard work. If this happens sooner that expected then GREAT....!! I am shooting for the over 50 class but you never know.
Awesome Dana! Glad to hear your positive and making it happen! I'm on vacation for a couple of weeks, so I am going to put some real serious time in myself. I'm going to do it till I drop...:-)
On another note. good luck in the competition, Its never too late to start and have goals. Best of luck to you in the 50+ category. Hope training is on lock and ou tear it up on stage, take care and enjoy your weeek

Hey Dana,
Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it! Its not a easy road and I have a ways to get where I want to be. Im sure you will achieve your goals. So many nice people here with great advice and info, you just can't help but better yourself. I'll be checking in on ya from time to time to check your progress too.
Thanks for the encouragement. I've been working at this for about a year and I'm getting a little smarter about it all the time. The people here have helped a lot. I've lost 35 lbs in the last 18 mos. We "mature" folks can do this. Kick me in the ass if I slack off and I'll do the same for you.
Thank you.....It looks as though your mind frame is on the right track. Good for you. It is motivational to see the gains you have already made. Excellent! If you believe you definitely will acheive!
Thanks for the rating, it's appreciated. Also welcome to 40+'s it's a real good group.
Good luck with goals, it won't take as long as you think it might.
