When I Started:
How I Started:
I'm in the Army, so working out has always been a priority, but many times I just found myself doing the bare minimum, just enough to pass what was required of me. But I'm not getting any younger, and the weight started to creep on. I slowly got started in the spring of 2008, but really got moving during the summer of 2008, and since I've been in Iraq, I spend a bit of my free time at our awesome gym.
Why I Love It:
Working out just makes me feel better. And when I took a recent PT test and did better than I have in my younger 20s... that was a great feeling!
How I Stay Motivated:
looking good for my man, but being fit for me
BB Accomplishments:
shocking friends and family while i was home on leave

stevep78 is my amazing trainer! he is helping me whoop my own ass into shape with his plans, advice, encouragement. i didnt think it was going to be possible without meeting him in person - but it really is! Go Team Poynter!
Why? What are the pros and cons of working out there?
its a military gym in iraq. the pros are the incredible equipment! its all brand new and we have tons of it! the cons are that its a military gym and as a female, i'm the minority. i often get stared at like a piece of meat and that can be a little distracting when trying to workout.its a military gym in iraq. the pros are the incredible equipment! its all brand new and we have tons of it! the cons are that its a military gym and as a female, i'm the minority. i often get stared ...more

What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Keep yourself surrounded by like minded, motivated people. stay away from toxic friends and the Buffet!
After a tour in Iraq, it is very common for soldiers to slack off a bit when it comes to working out and eating right. I tried so hard to not fall into that trap this time. Sadly, I did slip in there a little bit, but I didnt fall to the bottom. I tried to eat healthy when I came home, but...
Hey there. How are you doin? I'm right with ya on the blog. I've moved in with my parents to save some money but they eat crap all day. For years, my dad has been running 8 miles every day, swimnning at lunch and on weekends - gone for hours on a bike so he eats a lot like Michael Phelps which is horrible for my mom cause she can't see how large of a factor diet is. Keep at it and we'll both get their!!!
Hey! So things have been good. I didnt make it to the gym this long weekend but I went running 2 of 3 days for 4k. Im starting PFD again this week. What are plan are you onto?
Cynthia, it is always awesome to see my fellow military leading the way. You have done some serious work and always moving forward! And I really like your well thought out writing. Yes, indeed...soldiers are certainly athletes and being in top condition is for the biggest prize!
Hey! I say just jump into week 2 and give it all you got! I did back/bi and only a little cardio with a friend on Sat... so I had my butt back in there yesterday for a little HIIT and abs. I can't wait to start today though!
my wife tapes it and i watch it on saturdays nothing hypes me up more then that show !! ive been in a rutt for a couple of monthes now and after watching the first show im back too being a beast again with trainig and the diet watch out lol!!
No way? Make sure you keep your salts and no-bueno carbs in check. I hear you on the girl thing though, when that time comes, I shoot up like 3 or 4 pounds. I can't wait to tackle legs, calves and abs woo woo
Sweet! Im in for the challenge!
Cake?! Yup.. you'll be working your booty off for that, lol. I like your honesty!! heheeee. OMG my booty/thighs are still sore :S
