i know how you feel, i'm also on the mend from being sick for a few weeks. it's hard to accept that your body might need a break, but you can always use the downtime to regroup and come back stronger. we hope!

A home gym usually is based mainly on your budget. If I could only keep the bare bones... It would have to be a adjustable bench and set of dumbells. You can do all basics with those. Then ad to as your wallet allows.
