I list my "When" date as August 1976. That was my 14th birthday and even at that age (and younger) I remember looking at superheroes in comic books (and the comic book advertisements like the Charles Atlas ones and, of course, Joe Weider's stuff) and wondering how I could get muscles like that.
I was bit by the bug, though, about two years later when I saw the June 1978 issue of Muscle Builder and Power with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbu, and Frank Zane on the cover.
BOOM!
Why I Love It:
Feels good!
How I Stay Motivated:
My goal: NABBA USA has an Athletic category for competitors who "have an athletic and trained body without heavy muscular development, must have good muscle separation, low body fat, defined abdominals, and nice overall symmetry." I'd love to eventually compete in one of their shows.
Hey, unfortunately, I've got the "without heavy muscular development" part down COLD! ;)
BB Accomplishments:
Stood on stage with Mr. USA Ron Teufel... okay, as a graphic artist. This might have been around 1979. Teufel (who passed away December 22, 2002) was guest posing at a local bodybuilding show and he invited me on stage in recognition for drawing his image for an autograph promotion. Very generous of Ron to give me some of the spotlight!
1980 Ephrata Senior High School "Best Legs" contest, Did not place :p

I was three years old. You like the jacket? And, yes, I have been "bald" all my life. :) I tried to enter the date "1965-08-21" and the BodySpace server or software whoziwhatsis shrieked "That date is more than 25 years old!!" True. See the blog. :)
185 lbs. in these pics. What, only a TWO pound loss since February? I wasn't really worried about losing. Btdt and I look like a prisoner of war at a low body weight. Maintained fair consistency in the gym and am on a new eating plan - the Wavelength diet. Google it. Perfect for people with a modest ...
I'm back to lifting three days a week using a full-body program courtesy of Jason Ferruggia's program "Muscle Gaining Secrets". I want to gain strength and maintain consistency in my workouts.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 10 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
10%
Upcoming Contest:
The Inaugural Curt James Classic Bodybuilding Championship in 2009 (haHA!)
CT is one of the first BodySpacers I visited after creating my profile. I immediately fell in love with the haaawt pics, but what inspires me is the information she provides via her web site http://www.bunklers.com/ and in the few (but important) BodyBlogs she's written. http://blog.bodybuilding.com/ChickenTuna
Consistency is her battle cry and I applaud her for it.
DM inspires me for her sensational attitude, her kind nature, and, yes, or course, her dynamite body. Wishing her and hubby (fellow BodySpacer "Thrila_N_Manila") all the success this life and world have to offer. She really is one of a kind.
What should look for in a gym? What should you avoid?
Does it have all the equipment you need? Do the gym's hours fit your schedule of working out? Are the facilities well maintained? Is the location right? Does the price fit your budget?
Avoid the flip side of those coins: No equipment, lousy hours a.k.a. they're open when you're at work, run down building and locker room, it's all a million miles from your front door, and it breaks your bank just to pay the monthly dues. No!Does it have all the equipment you need? Do the gym's hours fit your schedule of working out? Are the facilities well maintained? Is the location right? Does the price fit your budget?
