Goal (Long):
I was once a shredded, lifting monster--my shoulder was injured badly and I was unable to lift significant weight for 2 years. My motivation level plumetted and I became extremely discouraged after not being able to lift shoulders/chest/back for 7 months, so I stopped all fitness related activities completely.
Over the past 2 years, I went from 201lbs @ 10% bodyfat to 230lbs at an unknown % of bodyfat. My genetics are my biggest asset, and I believe that I can transform back to a real lifter in 4-5 months.
My biggest lesson the last couple years is to experiment when things aren't working the way they should. Sometimes an unorthodox choice is the right one, unless you have typical/exceptional genetics. The Smith incline bench is one; the wide grip upright row is the other. Nothing else blows my medial delts up like it, and people tell me I'm crazy to do it. Do what ya gotta do. Good luck; stay in touch. I got family in the Athens area.
This may sound like heresy to a powerlifter, but the Smith incline bench blew my pecs up like nobody's business (i was having shoulder issues with the bar, and i was strong, but no real development). I haven't flat bb benched in years. Food for thought.
Explain about your reluctance to bench, Crono. Maybe I can help? Do you have a bum shoulder, or does the move mentally scare you? I actually don't even flat bench anymore; only Smith incline bench, some db work, dips, and Hammer Strength machines.
I am sitting here stunned. I am astounded by your much too kind compliments. I thank you for what you said but I don’t believe that I have done anything that warrants my bodyspace being taped up to look at. I am honored that you feel inspiration by my accomplishments and to be honest your words will serve to inspire me to push myself even more. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Thanks and best of luck getting back in the game. However your past knowledge of the training will certainly help you get there faster. AND SO on to bigger and better and once more the big/powerful body. Andre
